FOR BIDS FOR FOURTEEN (14) PORTABLE COMMUNICATION UNITS AND ONE (1)
MULTI UNIT BATTERY CHARGER, FOR USE IN THE PADUCAH POLICE DEPARTMENT,
AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE
SHALL BE MADE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the Acting City Manager be, and he is hereby,
requested and authorized to advertise for bids for the purchase of
fourteen (14) portable communication units and one (1) multi unit
battery charger for use in the Paducah Police Department, said
units having the following minimum specifications:
(14) FOURTEEN - Hand Held 2 -frequency F.M. Portable Walkie-Talkie units on
specified frequencys of 154.815 mhz. and 154-890 mhz. Radios will be of
the Micro-Minature solid state design with a R.F. Power output of no less
than 1.8 Watts while using self contained mickel-cadmium battery which
shall be rated for 8 -hours per charge on a 10-10-80 duty cy(tle. Units
shall use separate speaker and microphone to give audio output of no less
than 500 mv. Units shall be furnished with leather case and covers,
telescopic antennas, and nickel cadmium rechargable batteries. Trans-
mitter shall maintain frequency stability of +- .0005%, Spurious and
harmonics 446DB, and audio distortion less than 10% at 1000hz., 2/3
rated maximum deviation. Receiver sensitivity .25 microvolt and
selectivity of 80 db (EIA SINAD). Receiver intermodulat.ion protection
of 60 db. and frequency stability of +- .00101%.
(1) One Multy Unit Battery Charger - Unit must charge nickel cadmium
batteries either in or out of the above radios and must operate from
117 v.a.c. Unit must be capable of handling a minimum of (12) radios
at the same time and each charge position must be individually switchable
from normal charge to trickle charge position with indicator lights
to indicate in which position unit is operating.
Bid quotations must include transportation, all applicable state and
local taxes, and installation to satisfaction of the City of Paducah
within the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky.

Price quotation should include the trade-in of four (4) Motorola
5 -watt single frequency Nandi Talkies which may be inspected at the
City of Paducah Police Department.
Bidders may submit alternate bids, with or without a bid which completely

meets above specifications. However, all bids must be accompanied by a
s complete set of manufacturers descriptive specifications and equipment
list and any exception to the bid specifications as herein set must be
stated in the formal bid letter. An explanation shall be made for each
item for which exception is taken, giving in detail, the extent of the
exception and the reason for which it is taken.
Each bidder shall state the approximate time required for delivery
of the merchandise bid upon.
SECTION 2. The Acting City Manager shall advertise for sealed
bids by notice posted at the City Hall door and by publication pursuant
to RRS Chapter 424. No bid shall be opened within ten days from the
date on which the resolution is adopted, and no bid shall be received
after the hour fixed for the opening of bids. All bids received by
the City Manager up to the time for opening of same shall be filed
with the Board of Commissioners which may let a contract to the lowest
responsible bidder. The City shall have the right to refuse and reject
any and all bids.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
