FOR ONE (1) FOUR (4) CUBIC YARD MOTOR PICKUP SWEEPER FOR USE IN THE
STREET DEPARTMENT, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH
SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, requested
to advertise for bids for the purchase of one (1) four (4) cubic yard
motor pickup sweeper for use by the Street Department of the City, having
the following specifications:
General
The sweeper to be furnished under this proposal to the City of Paducah
shall be of the three wheel design to give maximum maneuverability
in sweeping around obstructions. Have a minimum carrying capacity
of 4 cubic yards so that the maximum curb miles of streets may be
swept between dumping. Have power steering for each maneuvering.
Sweep at least an eight foot swath, be self propelled and of a
design that will permit easy proper cleaning.
Engine
Heavy duty industrial V-8 water cooled piston displacement 318 cubic
inch minimum.
Fuel - gasoline
Air cleaner dry type 8" diameter minimum. Air cleaner service in-
dicator located in cab. Oil Filter heavy duty replaceable type.
Clutch 11" diameter.
Anti Freeze protection to 340 F
Transmission four speeds forward, one reverse
Final drive heavy duty chain and sprocket to two front wheels.
Auxiliary Drives
Main broom, side broom and conveyors shall have their own drive
so that the brooms or conveyor do not stop when declutching to
shift gears or where coasting.
Pickup Broom
Drive mechanical from two speed power take -off.
Speeds two forward, one reverse

exterior. Seat bucket type. Spring cushions with rubber shock
absorbing mounting. Heater and defroster.
Colors and lettering to be specified. Instruction manual and
parts manual to be delivered with machine.
Each bidder shall state the amount of cash he will accept for
the sale to the City of the foregoing sweeper, and each bidder shall state
the approximate amount of time required for delivery.
SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids
by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of
the request for bids in the Sun -Democrat to be published not less than
seven days nor more than twenty-one days before the date fixed for the
opening of bids. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received
after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids
received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice for the
opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may
let a contract to the lowest and best bidder, and the Board of Com-
missioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the
City shall not become legally obligated to any bidder until the adoption
of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a purchase contract.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
