A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS
FOR ONE PULL -TYPE SWEEPER FOR USE IN THE STREET DEPARTMENT, AND
PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL
BE MADE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, requested
and authorized to advertise for bids for the purchase of one (1)
Pull -type sweeper for use in the street department, having the following
specifications:
Frame - All welded 5" tubular and structural steel construction.
Brush - Drive - 1" roller chain to gear box, 3/4" gear box to brush
drive. All sprockets machine cut and hardened. All chain drives
fully safety protected. Extra heavy U -joints.
Brush - 84" or 96" - Palmyra or steel filled, 30" diameter.
Brush Frame - Welded 3�" OD tubular with end plates reinforced,
chain guard for brush drive integral. Self -aligning anti -friction
bearings throughout. Chain take-up by slotted, anchor holes and
adjusting screws. Left or right sweeping by easy operating center
pivot - 300 either way. Safety lock for transport speed travel.
Controls - Lift, safety lock, shift lever and swing lock
controlled from one position.
Transmission - Special 2 speed transmission. Extra heavy stub tooth
gears running in oil on ball bearings. NOT a modified automotive type.
Rear Axle - 1 3/4" high carbon running in heavy anti -friction bearings -
differential action on each drive wheel.
Wheels - Heavy duty pressed steel with hubs, timken bearings.
Pole - 2" pipe with 3" pintle eye.
Wheelbase - 116'x" Rear Tread - 62 3/4" Turning Radius - 122"
Bare weight - 1600 pounds, maximum.
Each bidder shall state the amount he will accept in cash for the
sale to the City of the described and specified property, including any
and all applicable taxes and delivery costs, and each bidder shall
state the approximate amount of time for delivery of the equipment
from date of contract. Each bidder shall state all guarantees
available for the equipment bid upon.
Bids may be held by the City of Paducah for a period not to
exceed thirty days from the date of opening of bids, for the purpose
of reviewing the bids, investigating qualifications of bidders and
to insure that all specifications may be met.

The City of Paducah reserves the right to reject any and all
bids or to waive informalities in the bidding, and the City shall
not be obligated to purchase any equipment until the passage of an
ordinance accepting the bid of the successful bidder and until a
contract has been let.
SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids
by notice posted up at the City Hall door and by publication pursuant
to KRS Chapter 424. No bid shall be opened within ten days from the
date on which the resolution is adopted, and no bid shall be received
after the hour fixed for the opening of bids. All bids received by
the City Manager up to the time for opening of same shall be filed
with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest
responsible bidder.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
