ORDINANCE NO. 69-4-194
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 2, 6 AND 7 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED
"AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO TRAFFIC AND REGULATING USE OF PUBLIC STREETS
IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH; DEFINING AND ESTABLISHING PARKING METER ZONES
AND REGULATING AND CONTROLLING AND PROVIDING FOR INSPECTION OF THE TIME
PARKING OF VEHICLES THEREIN BY THE USE OF PARKING METERS; PRESCRIBING
LIMITS OF TIME FOR PARKING IN PARKING METER ZONES; AND PROVIDING FOR
ENFORCEMENT OF THIS ORDINANCE AND PUNISHMENT FOR ITS VIOLATION", WHICH
ORDINANCE WAS ADOPTED JULY 9, 1946, AND WHICH SECTIONS WERE LAST
RESPECTIVELY AMENDED ON OCTOBER 10, 1954, DECEMBER 6, 1955 AND APRIL 1, 1952
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Sections 2, 6 and 7 of an ordinance containing
the title quoted above, which was adopted on July 9, 1946, and which
sections were last respectively amended on October 10, 1954, December 6,
1955 and April 1, 1952, be, and the same are hereby, amended to read as
follows:
"SECTION 2. The following portion of streets extending a
distance of 7 feet and 8 inches from the respective curb lines toward
the center of the respective streets, on both sides of said streets,
unless otherwise indicated, are hereby established as parking meter
zones:
1. Broadway between First Street and Ninth Street
2. Jefferson Street between First Street and Sixth Street,
also on the north side of Jefferson Street and between Sixth
Street and Seventh Street.
3. Kentucky Avenue between First Street and Sixth Street and
on the north side of Kentucky Avenue between Sixth Street
and Seventh Street.
4. Monroe Street between Third Street and Sixth Street
5. Washington Street between Third Street and Sixth Street
6. First Street on the west side between Broadway and Kentucky Avenue
7. Second Street between Jefferson Street and Kentucky Avenue,
provided that the zones shall also be adjacent to each side
of the Market House between Broadway and Kentucky Avenue.
8. Third Street between Washington Street and Monroe Street
9. Fourth Street between Washington Street and Monroe Street, and
on the east side of Fifth Street betweem Clark and Washington
Streets.
10. Fifth Street between Washington Street and Monroe Street

11. Sixth'Street between Kentucky Avenue and Jefferson Street
12. Seventh Street between Kentucky Avenue and Jefferson Street
Provided, however, there shall not be included within any of
the aforesaid meter zones those portions of said zones which cross any
one of the aforesaid streets at its intersection with another street."
"SECTION 6. (a) Between the hours of 8:00 a.m. (except as
hereinafter set out) and 5:00 p.m. on each and every day except Sundays
and other days which are declared holidays by the City of Paducah,
and except that such hours, Sundays and holidays shall not apply to
parking meters adjacent to the Post Office property as is hereinafter
set forth, it shall be unlawful for any person to cause, allow, permit
or suffer any vehicle registered in his name or operated or controlled
adjacent
by him to be parked in any space/to which a parking meter is
installed during any time when the meter is showing a signal indicating
thilt such space is illegally in use - other than such time as is necessary
to operate the meter to show legal parking - and provided also that it
shall likewise be unlawful to park for any consecutive time longer than
the time indicated for the following parking meter zones:
(1) Zones limited to sixth (60) consecutive minutes parking:
Broadway between Second Street and Seventh Street,
except north side adjacent to the Post Office property,
and one space adjacent to the Paducah Bank.
First Street between Kentucky Avenue and Broadway
Third Street between Washington Street and Jefferson Street,
except for one space on the west side adjacent to the
Peoples Bank.
Fourth Street between Kentucky Avenue and Jefferson Street,
except on the east side adjacent to the Citizens Bank
Building.
Fifth Street between Kentucky Avenue and Jefferson, except
on west side adjacent to the Post Office property.
East side of Fifth Street between Clark Street and Washington Street.
(2) Zones limited to twelve (12) consecutive minutes parking:
North side of Broadway and west side of Fifth Street
adjacent to the Post Office property, the east side of

Fourth Street adjacent to the Citizens Bank Building, and
one space each on the west side of Third Street and the
north side of Broadway adjacent to the Peoples Bank and
the Paducah Bank, respectively.
(3) Zones limited to one hundred twenty (120) consecutive minutes
parking:
Both sides of Kentucky Avenue from First Street to Sixth
Street,
Both sides of Jefferson Street from Second Street to Sixth Street,
Both sides of Second Street from Washington Street to Jefferson
Street,
Both sides of Fourth Street from Kentucky Avenue to Washington
Street and from Jefferson Street to Monroe Street,
Both sides of Fifth Street from Kentucky Avenue to Washington
Street and Jefferson Street to Monroe Street,
Both sides of Sixth Street between Kentucky Avenue and Jefferson
Street.
(4) Other Zones:
All other parking within the parking meter zones may be
regulated by meters providing two, four or ten hour parking
at the discretion of the City Manager.
(b) It shall be unlawful for any person to cause, allow, permit or
suffer any vehicle registered in his name or operated or controlled by
him to be parked in any space on the north side of Broadway and west
side of Fifth Street adjacent to the Post Office property where parking
meters are installed during any time twenty-four hours a day and seven
days a week, with no exception, when the meter adjacent to such space
is showing a signal indicating that such space is illegally in use,
other than such time as is necessary to operate the meter to show legal
parking.
"SECTION 7. The meter charge for parking in parking meter zones
shall be as follows:
(1) One cent for twelve (12) minutes.
(2) Five cents for each sixty (60) minutes or one (1) hour on
one, two and four hour parking meters.
(3) Twenty-five cents for ten (10) hour meter parking."

SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after 8:00 A.M. May 1, 1969.
