"AN ORDINANCE CREATING AND ESTABLISHING A PARKS AND RECREATION
DEPARTMENT FOR THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, CREATING POSITIONS
THEREIN AND FIXING SALARIES THEREOF", 'WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD
OF COMMISSIONERS ON DECEMBER 8, 1964, AND AMENDED ON DECEMBER 13, 1966,
AND RECORDED IN ORDINANCE BOOK 15, PAGE 1165
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Section 2 of an ordinance containing the title
quoted above, which was adopted by the Board of Commissioners on
December 8, 1964 and amended on December 13, 1966 and recorded in
Ordinance Book 15, page 1165, be, and the same is hereby amended so
that said section as amended shall read as follows:
"SECTION 2. That in order to perform the duties of said
department, there is hereby created the following positions of employ-
ment at the rate of pay specified:

The following positions are hereby created and established
under all laws, rules and provisions governing civil service:
Base Hourly Rate
Shop Mechanic (1 position ) $2.38
Maintenance Men (2 positions) 2,1$
01, Truck Drivers (4 positions) 1.98
Laborers (3 positions) 1.75
The Shop
Mechanic shall be paid at the rate of $2.38 per hour for
the first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months
$2.43 per hour, such increase to be made upon the recommendation of the
City Manager.
Maintenance Men shall be paid at the rate of $2.18 per hour for
the first six months of employment, and at the expiration of six months
$2.23 per hour, such increase to be made upon recommendation of the City
Manager.

Truck Drivers shall be paid at the rate of $1.98 per hour for
the first six months of employment, and at the expiration of six months
$2.03 per hour, such increase to be mdde upon recommendation of the
City Manager.
Laborers shall be paid at the rate of $1.75 per hour for the
first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $1.80
per hour; at the expiration of one year $1.85 per hour and at the
expiration of two years $1.90 per hour, such increases to be made
upon recommendation of the City Manager.
No person now employed in any of the above set out four (4)
civil service positions shall be placed under, civil service until he
has successfully completed a proper examination for same and has been
so placed by motion of -the Board bf Commissioners.
Upon recommendation of the Director, the Board of Commissioners
may, by motion, employ seasonal and temporary employees to be paid
at comparable rates based upon the position and responsibility
involved, such compensation to be fixed by the motion authorizing
the employment."
SECTION 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption and shall be retroactive to April 1, 1967.
