ORDINANCE NO. 68-5-68
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN
ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE NUMBER, RANKS AND MONTHLY SALARIES OF THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH",
WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON AUGUST 5, 1952,
AND AMENDED ON JANUARY 23, 1968
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Section 1 of an ordinance containing the title
quoted above, which was adopted on August 5, 1952, and amended on
January 23, 1968, be, and the same is hereby amended and reordained so
that said section as amended and reordained shall read as follows:
"SECTION 1. The number and rank of members of the Police
Department of the City of Paducah and their monthly salaries, provided
said salaries are not changed by any annual apportionment ordinance
hereafter adopted, shall be as follows:

Chief of Police 1 $675.00
First Assistant Chief of Police 1 630.00
Second Assistant Chief of Police 1 550.00
Chief of Detectives 1 550.00
Captain 9 500.00
Sergeants 11 460.00
Policemen 33 400.00
The Chief of: Police shall be paid at the rate of $675.00 per
month for the first six months; at the expiration of six months $685.00
per month: at the expiration of one year $695.00 per month and at the
expiration of two years $705.00 per month, such increases to be made
upon recon-mendation of the City Manager..
The Second Assistant Chief shall be paid at the rate of $550.00
per month for the first six months; at the expiration of six months
$560.00 per month; at the expiration of one year $570.00 per month and
at the expiration of two years $590.00 per month; such increases to
he made upon recommendation of the City :tanager.

The Chief of Detectives shall be paid at the rate of $550.00
per month for the first six months; at the expiration of six months
$560.00 per month; at the expiration of one year $570.00 per month and
at the expiration of two years $580.00 per month; such inceeases to
be made upon recommendation of the City Manager.
Captains shall be paid at the rate of $500.00 per month for the
first six months; at the expiration of six months $510.00 per month;
at the expiration of one year $520.00 per month and at the expiration
of two years $530.00 per month, such increases to be made upon
recommendation of the City Manager.
Sergeants shall be paid at the rate of $460.00 per month for the
first six months, at the expiration of six months $470.00 per month
and at the expiration of one year $480.00 per month, such increases
to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager.
Policemen shall be paid at the rate of $400.00 per month for the
first six months, at the expiration of six months $410.00 per month;
at the expiration of one year $420.00 per month; at the expiration of
two years $430.00 per month and at the expiration of three years $440.00
per month, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager.
The permanent positions for captain shall be five (5) and for
sergeant fifteen (15). The increase to nine captain is due to the
elimination of the rank of lieutenant and the promotion to rank of
captain of the officer currently in charge of records and identification.
As any captain vacancy occurs, or the record and identification captain
is reassigned or otherwise leaves a vacancy, such vacancies shall be
filled by those holding the rank of sergeant until the authorized
numbers shall again be five (5) captains and fifteen (15) sergeants."
SECTION 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed.
sBCTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
