A RESOLUTION ENDORSING AND CONCURRING IN THE PROVISIONS CONTAINED
IN SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 31 OF 1968 KENTUCKY GENERAL ASSEMBLY, REQUESTING
AND PE TITIONING U. S. CORPS OF ENGINEERS TO CONSTRUCT A LAKE ON THE WEST
FORK OF CLARKS RIVER NEAR SYMSONIA
WHEREAS, at the regulat 1968 session of the Kentucky General
Assembly, the Senate adopted Senate Resolution No. 31 (a copy of which
is annexed hereto) requesting and petitioning the United States Corps
of Engineers to construct a lake on the west form of Clarks River
near Symsonia, Kentucky, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah,
Kentucky, has studied the terms of said resolution and the Clarks River
proposal upon which said resolution is based, and
WHEREAS, the Board has concluded that such construction as
described in Senate Resolutiou No. 31 and the Clarks River proposal
would have a diract beneficial effect upon the City of Paducah,
Kentucky,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF
THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. This Board hereby endorses and concurs in the pro-
visions contained in Senate Resolution No. 31 which requests and petitions
the United States Corps of Engineers to construct a lake on the west fork
of Clarks River near Symsonia, Kentucky.
SECTION 2. The Board acknowledges that such construction and
improvements proposed would, in addition to other important effects, aid
in the improvement and control of flowage at the confluence of Clarks
River and the Tennessee River which is in close proximity to the City
of Paducah, Kentucky.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed
to send a copy of this resolution to Col. Jesse L. Fishback, District
Engineer, U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville, Tennessee; to Honorable
Frank A. Stubblefield, Representative United States Congress, for this District,
Washington, D.C.; Honorable Louis B. Nunn, Governor, Commonwealth of
Kentucky, Frankfort, Kentucky, and to Senators John Cherman Cooper and
Thruston B. Morton, Senate Office Building, Washington, D.C.
