ORDINANCE NO. 68-2-9
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE
A RELEASE OF EASEMENT TO PEARL KARNES, RUDOLPH TAYLOR AND JO LEE
TAYLOR
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor and City Clerk be, and they are
hereby authorized and directed to execute a Release of Easement to
Pearl Karnes, Rudolph Taylor and Jo Lee Taylor in words and figures
as follows:
"THIS RELEASE OF EASEMENT made and entered into this
8th day of February, 1968, by and between the CITY OF PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY, a municipal corporation, and the COUNTY OF McCRACKEN,
STATE OF KENTUCKY, hereinafter called Grantors, and PEARL
KARNES, a widow, of Marshall County, Kentucky, and RUDOLPH
TAYLOR and JOE LEE TAYLOR, his wife, of Royal Oak, Michigan,
hereinafter called the Grantees,
WITNESSETH
WHEREAS, by instrument designated "Approach Zone
Easement", dated July 11, 1955, and recorded in Deed Book
364, page 55, McCracken County Court Clerk's office, P. T.
Karnes (now deceased) and Pearl Karnes, his wife, Rudolph
Taylor and Jo Lee Taylor, his wife, granted and conveyed to
the City of Paducah, Kentucky, and the County of McCracken,
State of Kentucky, a perpetual easement for glide path pur-
poses over real estate owned by them in the immediate vicinity
of the southwest end of the northeast -southwest runway located
on Barkley Field, McCracken County, Kentucky; and
WHEREAS, the said northeast -southwest runway is
being extended, and the City of Paducah, Kentucky and County
of McCracken, State of Kentucky is being conveyed by the said
Pearl Karnes, Rudolph Taylor and Jo Lee Taylor, title in fee
simple to approximately ninety (90) acres of land to be used
in said runway extension, and in addition, another easement
for glide path purposes, which includes a major portion of the

land held subject to the aforementioned "Approach Zone Easement";
and
WHEREAS, the acquisition of the additional land and
easement completely remove the necessity of the City of Paducah,
Kentucky and the County of McCracken, State of Kentucky retaining
L any of the "Approach Zone Easement" as previously granted to
them under the conveyance dated July 11, 1955, and said easement
is of no present or future public benefit to the City of Paducah,
Kentucky or County of McCracken, State of Kentucky; and
WHEREAS, the retaining of the obsolete easement
works an unnecessary and undue hardship on the present and
future use and develoyment of said land;
I NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the premises
and One ($1.00) Dollar and other good and valuable considera-
tion, this day cash paid to the Grantors by the Grantees, the
receipt of all of which is hereby acknowledged by the Grantors,
the Grantors do hereby bargain, sell, convey and release unto
the Grantees, Pearl Karnes, Rudolph Taylor and Jo Lee Taylor,
his wife, equally and jointly, for and during their natural
lives, with the remainder to the survivor of them, his or her
heirs and assigns, the following easements over property owned
by the Grantees in McCracken County, Kentucky, which easements
are more particularly described as follows:
A clearance zone, hereinafter referred to as
the "Glidepath" and being a fan -shaped zone
which begins 200 feet southwest of the
southwest end of the northeast -southwest
runway of Barkley Field, if same is extended
1000 feet (or to a total length of 5000 feet),
and the base line or beginning of said zone
is 1000 feet wide and is at right angles to
the center line of said runway extended and
500 feet wide on each side of said center
line; thence extending in a southwesterly
direction in fan shape as aforesaid, the
sides of said Glidepath having an interior
angle of said baseline of 98 degrees 32
minutes, and the plane of said Glidepath
rising from said base line a distance of
one foot for each 50 feet of horizontal
distance traveled in a southwesterly direc-
tion as measured along the center line of
aaid runway if extended.
Beginning at a base line 1000 feet long, centered
on and at right angles to the center line of
the northeast -southwest runway at the southwest
end thereof when same is extended 1000 feet
(or to a total length of 5000 feet); thence
extending in a southwesterly direction with

the sides of said rectangle an equal distance
from, and parallel to, the center line of said
runway, if extended, a distance of 2,640 feet,
it being the object of the Doolittle Recommen-
dations to keep the area hereinabove described
free of all structures intended for human habi-
tation or assembly.
Being in all respects the same easements
granted to the Grantors herein by instrument
dated July 11, 1955, and recorded in Deed Book
364, page 55, McCracken County Court Clerk's
office.
TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the above granted easements and
rights granted thereunder, unto Pearl Karnes, Rudolph Taylor
and Jo Lee Taylor, his wife, equally and jointly, for and
during their natural lives, with the remainder in fee simple
to the survivor of them, his or her heirs and assigns forever.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, witness the hands of the Grantors this
day and date first above written."
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
