A RESOLUTION REQUESTING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW CENTRAL FIRE STATION
TO BE LOCATED AT THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF THE INTERSECTION OF SOUTH
THIRD AND WASHINGTON STREETS IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, requested
and authorized to advertise for bids for the construction of a new central
fire station to be located on city property at the northwest corner of the
intersection of South Third and Washington Streets in the City of Paducah,
Kentucky, according to the plans and specifications prepared by G. Anthony
Johnston & Associates, Architects -Engineers, and in so advertising he will
use substantially the following form:
"INVITATION FOR BIDS
"The City of Paducah, Kentucky, will receive sealed bids for
the construction of a new central fire station, at the Commission Chambers,
City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, until 10 o'clock A.M., current Paducah time,
on Thursday, September 14, 1967, at which time the bids will be publicly
opened and read aloud.
"The Project will be the construction of a two-story fire station
and all site improvements.
"The Proposal Forms, Contract Documents, Plans and Specifications
are on file in the office of G. Anthony Johnston & Associates, Architects -
Engineers, Associated General Contractors of Western Kentucky, Paducah,
Kentucky, and F. W. Dodge Corporation, Plan Room, in Louisville, Kentucky,
Nashville and Memphis, Tennessee, Evansville, Indiana and St. Louis,
Missouri.
"Copies of the document may be obtained by depositing $50.00 with
the Architect for each set of plans so obtained. $50.00 will be refunded
to each person who returns the plans, specifications and other documents
to the Architect in good condition within two weeks after bid opening.
Bidders returning unusable plans or specifications or returning plans
and/or specifications after the above mentioned two weeks period will
be refunded only $25.00.

"Plans will be available for the general contractor, including
heating and electrical. Material dealers and subcontractors who will
bid with the general contractors must obtain information from sets
available in the office of the Architect, Prime Contractor, Associated
General Contractors of Western Kentucky, or F. W. Dodge Corporation
Plan Rooms.
"A satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the Bidder and acceptable
Sureties in an amount equal to five (5%) percent of the bid, shall be
submitted with each proposal.
"The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance
and payment bond.
"Attention of bidders is particularly called to the requirements and
the conditions of employment to be observed and the minimum wage rates to
be paid under the contract.
"The City of Paducah reserves the right to reject any bids or to
waive any irregularities in bidding.
"No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) days subsequent
to the opening of the bids without the consent of the City of Paducah,
Kentucky.
"The Contractor will be liable for liquidated damages for non-
compliance by the specified completion date.

SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids
by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of
the Invitation for Bids in the Paducah Sun -Democrat, to be published
at least one (1) time not less than seven (7) d ays nor more than
twenty-one (21) days before the date fixed for the opening of bids.
No bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the
opening of same. All bids received up to the time fixed in the notice
for the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners
who may let a contract to the lowest and best bidder. Said Board shall
reserve the right to reject any and all bids, to waive informalities
and irregularities in the bidding, and the City shall not become legally
obligated to any bidder until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing

the execution of a contract.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
