HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 16, Page 274, No Resolution Number274/ A RESOLUTION REQUESTING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF RELIEF SEWERS, CONTRACT NO. 2 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, requested and authorized to advertise for bids for the construction of Relief Sewers, Contract No. 2, according to plans and specifications prepared by Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, and in so adver- tising he will use substantially the following form: "INVITATION TO BID "Sealed proposals will be received by the City Clerk, City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky until 10:00 A.M., C.D.T. September 28, 1967 for: Contract No. 2 - Relief Sewers "The contract provides for the construction of relief sewer lines A. B. C. D. E, River Line Repair, Mayfield Road Culvert, and appurtenant work located within the city limits of Paducah, Kentucky. This project includes approximately: 540 L.F. 24 -inch reinforced concrete pipe 1,100 L.F. 30 -inch reinforced concrete pipe 1,600 L.F. 36 -inch reinforced concrete pipe 1,450 L.F. 42 -inch reinforced concrete pipe 250 L.F. 50 x 31 -inch corrugated steel pipe -1,100 L.F. 68x43 -inch horizontal elliptical reinforced concrete pipe 600 L.F. 76x48 -inch horizontal elliptical reinforced concrete pipe 1,600 L.F. 83x53 -inch horizontal elliptical reinforced concrete pipe 120 L.F. reinforced concrete box culvert All equipment, materials, and labor shall be in accordance with the Concract Documents on file with City Clerk, City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, and in the office of Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, P.O. Box 173, 4600 East 63rd Street Trafficway, Kansas City, Missouri 64141. "The work shall be commenced within fifteen (15) calendar days after award of the contract, and shall be completed within Three Hundred Sixty- five (365) days after date of contract. "Copies of the Contract Documents for bidding purposes may be obtained from the offices of Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company. A deposit of Twenty-five ($25.00) dollars shall be required for each set of Contract Documents. Deposits will be refunded to actual bidders upon the return of drawings and specifications in good condition within 10 days after opening bids. 275 "Bids will be received on a unit price basis as described in the Contract Documents. "A certified check or a bid bond satisfactory to the Purchaser, in an amount of Thirty Thousand ($30,000) dollars shall accompany each proposal. "The successful bidder shall furnish a performance -payment bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price guaranteeinc the faithful performance of the contract. "The Purchaser reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities therein, to determine which is the lowest and best bid, and to approve the bond. "No bidder may withdraw his bid for a period of sixty (60) days after date of opening of bids. CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY August 28, 1967 By: B. Cowles Mallory City Manager" SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the invitation for bids in the Sun -Democrat to be published at least one (1) time not less than seven days nor more than twenty-one days before the date fixed for the opening of bids. No bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received up to the time fixed in the notice for the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest and best bidder. Said Board shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids, to waive informalities in the bidding and the City shall not become legally obligated to any bidder until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a contract. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption. /ion ZJ .
