HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 16, Page 185, No Ordinance Number185 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH W. H. YANCY.&,SONS ASPHALT PAVING COMPANY FOR THE RESURFACING OF VARIOUS STREETS IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, INCLUDING THE RAISING AND RESETTING OF MANHOLES, CATCH BASINS AND MONUMENTS, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SAID CONTRACT BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to enter into a contract with W. H. Yancy & Sons Asphalt Paving Company (hereinafter referred to as the "Contractor") for the resurfacing of various streets in the City of Paducah, Kentucky, and said work shall be done on the following terms, conditions and specifications: Rough or high points on the existing surface shall be graded where necessary and the present surfacing leveled where necessary with Class I, Type B Bituminous leveling course before placement of the approximately lz inch application of Kentucky State Highway Class I, Type B Bituminous concrete surfacing, said work to include Bituminous prime coat RS -1 complying with Kentucky State Highway specifications and the raising -and resetting to grade:of.manholes, located in the areas to be resurfaced. The coarse aggregate.in the surfacing shall consist of limestone aggregate and the materials, - mixing and placing by finishing machine and rolling shall comply with Kentucky State Highway specifications. Minimum wage rates for McCracken County, Kentucky shall be paid. Said work of resurfacing:shall be.paid,for by the City to the Contractor on the following basis:. Kentucky State Highway Class I Type B Bituminous concrete surfacing and Class I bituminous leveling course for the sum of $8.15 per ton. Bituminous prime coat RS -1 complying with Kentucky State Highway specifications for the sum of $0.35 per gallon. Raising and resetting of manholes, catch basins and monuments for the sum of $55.00 each. 186 All work to be done by the Contractor under the direction of the City of Paducah Engineering Department and the street areas to be resurfaced shall be designated by the City Manager. The work done by the Contractor shall be paid for upon certification of the completion thereof by the City Engineer and approved and accepted by him. It is estimated that approximately 9,300 tons, more or less, of surfacing will be required.' The Contractor shall execute a -performance bond in the amount of the estimated cost of the work to insure the proper performance and completion of said work; and in'addition thereto will be required to keep in full force and effect liability insurance protecting the City from any claims of persons or property of persons in the following amounts: $300,000 for personal injury or death to any one person $500,000 for personal injury or death to more than one person resulting from the same accident, and $ 20,000 for damage to property in any one accident. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be introduced and remain on file for at least one (1) week for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage, and if adopted shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days thereafter. r J /liL—yYri,StaJ Z1J.
