EMPLOYEES' CIVIL SERVICE ORDINANCE, WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF
CONRAISSIONERS ON DECEMBER 2, 1947 AND RECORDED IN ORDINANCE BOOK 11,
PAGE 249 AND AMENDED FROM TIME TO TIPS, THE LAST AMENDMENT BEING ON
DECEMBER 13, 1966 AND RECORDED IN ORDINANCE BOOK 15, PAGE 1148
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Section 8-_4 and 8-B of the Appointive Employees'
Civil Service Ordinance "which was adopted by the Board of Commissioners on
December2, 1947 and recorded in Ordinance Book 11, bage 249, and
amended from time to time, the last amendment being on December 13, 1966
and recorded in Ordinance Book 15, page 1148, be further amended and
reordained so that said sections as amended and reordained shall read as
follows:
"SECTION 8-A There is hereby authorized and created the-cA'r=�

folloiring positions in the Engineering Department, and the salary of
each position, provided the amount of such salary is not changed under
an,! apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted shall be as follows:
Position Base Salary Per Month
City Engineer, Head of Department- $715.00
Assistant City Engineer 580.00
Instrument Man 505.00
Draftsman 485.00
Rodman 390.00
Clerk Stenographer 290.00
Chainman 345.00
Clerk -typist 245.00
The Clerk Stenographer shall be paid at the rate of $290.00 per
month for the first six months of enployment; at the expiration of six
months $300.00 per month; at the expiration of one year $310.00 per
month; and at the expiration of two years $320.00 per month, such
increases to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager.
The Chainman shall he paid at the rate of $345.00 per month for
the first year of employment, at the expiration of one year the salary
shall he increased to x'355.00 per month, such increase to be made upon
recommendation of the City Manager.
The Clerk-t�,pist shall be paid at the rate of b,245.00 per month
for tkre first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months

Sewer Maintenance Bien shall be paid at the rate of $2.15 per
hour for the first six months of employment and at the expiration of
six months the rate of pay shall he $2.23 per hour, such increase to
be made upon recommendation o.f_the City Manap-er.
The.Equipment Operator shall be paid at the rate of x2.35 per
hour for the first six months of employment and at the expiration of
six months the rate of pay shall be $2.43 per hour, such increase to
be made upon recommendation of the City m'anaper.
The Street Repairman shall he paid at the rate of *12.05 per
hour for the first six months of emplovment and at the expiration of
six months the rate of pav shall be $2.13 per hour, such increase -to
be made upon recommendation of the City I•ianarTer.
The Truck Driver shall be paid at the rate of 51.95 per hour for
the first- six months of employment and at the expiration of six months
the rate of pay shall be increased to 552.03 per hour, such increase
to to made upon recommendation of the City mlanayer.
The Laborer shall be paid at the rate of :11.75 per hour for the
first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $1.50
per hour; at the expiration of one year x;1.55 per hour, and tit the

expiration of t^o rears $1.90 per hour, such increases to he made upon
recommendation of the City Eana,rer.
The Chief Mechanic shall be paid at the rate of ,,'2.48 per hour for
the first six months of employment and at the expiration of six months
—� the rate of pav shall be increased to $2.53 per hour, such increase
to be made upon recommendation of the City Manaper.
The Auto Rapairman shall be paid at the rate of $2.38 per hour for
the first six months of employment, and at the expiration of six months
the rate of pay shall he increased to $2.43 per hour, such increase
to he made upon recommendation of the City N.anaper.
The i•'sechanic Helper shall be paid at the rate of $2.18 per hour
for the .first sir, months of employment and at the expiration of six months
the rate of pa,,, shall be increased to $2.23 per hour, such increase
to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager.
The Concrete Finisher shall be paid at the rate of $2.48 per hour
for the first six months of employment and at the expiration of six months
the rate of pay shall be increased to $2.53 per hour, such increase
to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager.
Refuse (Sanitary) Division Base Hourly Rate
This Division shall be under the direction of
the above mentioned Director of Public Works
and the Assistant Director of Public lorks.
Collectors (22 positions) $1.75
Truck Drivers (11 positions) 1.98
Tire Repairman ( 1 position ) 2.18
Equipment Operator ( 1 position ) 2.38
Mechanic Helper ( 1 position ) 2.18
Collectors shall be paid at the rate of $1.75 per hour for the
first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $1.80
per hour; at the expiration of one year $1.85 per hour, and at the
expiration of two years $1.90 per hour; such increases to be made
upon recommendation of the City Nianager.
Truck Drivers shall be paid at the rate of $1.98 per hour for
the first six months of employment and at the expiration of six months
the rate of pay shall be increased to $2.03 per hour, such increase
to he made upon recommendation of the City bPanager.
The Tire Repairman shall be paid at the rate of x;2.18 per hour
:for the first six months of employment and at the expiration of six months
the rate of pay shall be increased to $2.23per hour, such increase to be
made upon recommendation of the City Manager.
The Equipment Operator shall he paid at the rate of $2.38 per hour
for the first six months of employment and at the expiration of six months

The Mechanic Helper shall be paid at the rate of $2.18 per hour
for the first six months of employment and at the expiration of six months
the rate of pay shall be increased to $2.23 per hour, such increase to
be made upon recommendation of the City Manager."
SECTION 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption and shall be retroactive to January 1, 1967.
