FOR THREE (3) DUMP TRUCKS FOR USE IN THE STREET DEPARTt4E1,!T AND ONE
(1) TRUCK CAB AND CHASSIS WITHOUT BLD FOR USE IPI THE PARKS AND
RECREATION DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND PRE-
SCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby,
authorized and directed to advertise for bids.for the purchase by
the City of three (3) dump trucks for use by the Street Department
and one (1) truck cab and chassis without bed for the Parks and
Recreation Department, having the followinr*.s.pecifications:
Street Department Truck Specifications
Wheel Base
139 to 146 inch wheel base, 72 inch cab to rear axle.
Bed
Size, 108 x 78 inches, four (4.) cut.ic yards capacity
(water level), equipped with seven (7) inch diameter
hydraulic cylinder and cab ruard.
G.V.1,'1. Rating
G.V.W. Rating shall be a.minimum of 24,000 pounds.
Front Susvension
Axle, 7000 pound minimum capacity. Springs, 3500 pound
minimum capacity.
Rear Suspension
Axle, single speed 1'x,000 pound minimum capacity. Springs,
11,500 pound minimum capacity and eauipped with overloads.
Motor
195 minimum gross horsepower V type gasoline enrine.
Transmission
Five (5) speed transmission.
Brakes
Increased capacity, vacuum over hydraulic with booster.
Frame
Heavy duty outer .frame reinforcements.
Wheels and Tires
Wheels shall he cast spoke type. Tires shall be 9:00 x 20
10 ply 100 level tires and tubes. One (1) only mounted spare
tire and wheel shall he furnished for the three (3) trucks.
Clutch
Heavy duty thirteen (13) inch.
Electrical
Thirty-seven (37) ampere alternator.
Gages
Ameter, heat indicator, oil pressure and fuel gages shall
be installed.

Color
Omaha Orange and Black as specified by the purchaser.
General
West coast type rear view mirror, one each side. Fresh air type
heater and defrosters. Front and rear mounted turn indicators
equipped with hazard switch. Dual electric, two (2) speed
electric windshield wipers. Front end tow hooks. Mechanical
tachometer R.P.M. Governor.
Parks &. Recreation Trust Specifications
General
Conventional cab. Manufacturers G.V.W. rating, minimum 18,000
pounds. Turn signals front and rear equipped with traffic hazard
switch. Dual electric, two (2) speed windshield wipers. Fresh
air heater and defrosters.
Wheel Base
139 to 146 inch wheel base and 72 inches cab to rear axle.
Front Suspension
Springs, minimum 3,000 pounds each at pad. Axle, minimum 5,000
pounds.
Rear Suspension
Springs, minimum 7500 pounds at pad equipped with overload
springs in addition to minimum. Axle, single speed minimum
15,000 pounds.
Engine
Gasoline, minimum -ross horsepower rating of 170 H.P.
Transmission
Four (4) speed transmission.
Brakes
Vacuum, hydraulic (Booster Equipped).
Electrical
Thirtv-seven (37) Ampere alternator.
Frame
Heavy duty frame reinforcements.
Gapes
Ameter, heat indicator, oil pressure and fuel gages.
Wheels and Tires
Standard disc type wheels, dual rear, 8:25 x 20 10 ply
100 level tires and tubes, front and rear.
Color
Omaha Oranpe and Black as specified by purchaser.
SECTION 2. Each bidder shall state the amount he will accept in
cash for the purchase of the hour (4) trucks described above, and also
the amount he will allow for trade-in of three (3) 1952 1j ton L-160
International Dump Trucks and one (1) 1951 Chevrolet 1? ton Model UV
Dump Truck.

Each bidder must hid upon all four (4) trucks as a unit and no
Split hid will he considered. Trade-in trucks can he seen at the
City Garage, 9th and Madison Streets and at the Parks and Recreation
Garage at Noble Park.
All prices quoted shall include or refer to any and all applicable
taxes.
Each bidder shall furnish the City with factory specifications
describing the equipment he offers for sale, and furnish information
as to all applicable guarantees, and shall state the length of time
required for delivery after the execution of a purchase contract.
SECTION 3. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids
by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of
the request for bids in the Sun -Democrat to be published not less than
seven days nor more than twenty-one days before the date fixed for the
opening, of bids. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received
after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids
received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice for the
openinp of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may
let a contract to the lowest and best bidder, and the Board of Commission-
ers shall reserve the richt to reject anv and all bids and the City
shall not become legally obligated to anv bidder until the adoption of
an ordinance authorizing the execution of a purchase contract.
SECTION t. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
