A RESOLUTION REGRETTING THE DECISION OF INDIAN HEAD MILLS
TO PHASE OUT ITS MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH;
COMMENDING THE GREATER PADUCAH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR ITS EFFORTS
TO OBTAIN A NEW INDUSTRY TO OCCUPY THE BUILDING OF INDIAN HEAD MILLS
AND PLEDGING THE FULL SUPPORT AND COOPERATION OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH
IN SECURING SUCH NEW INDUSTRY
WHEREAS, inasmuch as Indian Head Mills has decided to phase
out its manufacturing operations in the City of Paducah, Kentucky
because of economic reasons thus resulting in the loss of jobs for
some four hundred people, and
WHEREAS, it is in the final interest of the City of Paducah
to have as much manufacturing operations take place in our community
as is possible for the social, economic, cultural and all other
good purposes, and
WHEREAS, the Greater Paducah Chamber of Commerce is making
every effort to secure some other industry to occupy the manufacturing
plant being vacated by Indian Head Mills.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. The Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah,
Kentucky deeply regrets the decision of Indian Head Mills to phase out
its manufacturing operations in the City of Paducah, Kentucky; that
the Board recognizes the vital importance of industrial jobs for the
entire community for a variety of sound reasons.
SECTION 2. That the Greater Paducah Chamber of Commerce has
indicated its sincere and genuine interest in this city and in its
operations by doing all in its power to secure another industry
to occupy the manufacturing plant.
SECTION 3. That the activities of the Chamber of Commerce
be applauded.
SECTION 4. That every effort and cooperation of the Board of
Commissioners of the City of Paducah will be given to the Chamber
of Commerce and any industry showing its interest in coming to Paducah,
Kentucky, to occupy the manufacturing plant of Indian Head Mills.
SECTION 5. That this Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption.
