A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS
FOR THE PURCHASE.OF THE CITY'S REQUIREMENT OF CLASS I, TYPE B,
BITUMINOUS CONCRETE FOR THE YEAR 1969 (AN AMOUNT EQUAL TO APPROXIMATELY
5,000 TONS) TO BE USED IN STREET CONSTRUCTION
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized
to advertise for bids for the purchase of the City's requirement for
Class.2, Type B, Bituminous Concrete for the year 1969 (an amount equal
to approximately 5,000 tons).
Bidders are to.give quotations on bituminous materials to meet
Kentucky Department of Highway Standard specifications Edition of 1965.
Bid price is to be f.o.b. plant site, and any bidder outside the limits
of the City of Paducah shall state the exact distance his plant is located
from the city limits.
Orders are to be placed by collect telephone call to the successful
bidder or bidders and each order shall be available for pick-up within
one hour after order has been placed, Monday thru Friday, 7 atm. to 4 p.m.
holidays excluded.
The material must be prepared and delivered so as to reasonably
arrive at the designated job site at the recommended application
temperature as covered in the Kentucky Department of Highway Standard
Specifications. Each delivery of material shall be accompanied by a form
indicating that the material has been approved for use by the Division of
Materials of the Kentucky State Highway Department.
Check samples and weights may be made on any or all sales of
bituminous concrete to the City of Paducah. These samples will be sent
to a testing laboratory selected by the City. The successful bidder will
bear the expense of the weighing and testing.
All bids shall provide a guarantee against advance in the market
price and guarantee a reduction in price in event of a decrease in the
market price. The successful bidder shall post a performance bond in
the sum of $2,500.00 guaranteeing specifications and delivery. The
City reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to accept the
lowest and best bid.

SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by
posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the
request for bids in the Sun Democrat to be published not less than seven
(7) days nor more than twenty-one (21) days before the date fixed for the
opening of bids. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received
after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids
received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice for the
opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may
let a contract to the lowest and best bidder, and the )3oard of Com-
missioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the
City shall not become legally obligated to any bidder until the
adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of the purchase
contract.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect
from any after its adoption.
