FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) NEW 1i YARD CRAWLER TYPE HIGHLIFT AND
ONE (1) NEW 24 YARD CRAWLER TYPE HIGHLIFT, AND PRESCRIBING THE
CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized
to advertise for bids for the sale to the City of Paducah, Kentucky, of
two (2) new Crawler Type Highlifts as follows:
SPECIFICATIONS FOR CRAWLER TYPE HIGHLIFT
Bids shall be submitted for the highlift with the standard bucket:
With supplemental bids equipping the highlift with a multi-purpose
bucket and a standard 2 tooth ripper.
Each bidder,shall state the full price of his equipment, the price offered
for the trade=in and itemize all optional equipment required in this bid.
ENGINE: To be full diesel, six (6) or.four (4) cylinder, four (4) cycle,
with a minimum piston displacement of 350 cubic inches. To be equipped
with a 24 volt electric starting system, dry type air cleaner with service
indicator, oil and fuel filters, pusher type fan, all standard gages in-
cluding an hourmeter.
TRACKS: Gage to be a minimum of 60 inches, shoe width minimum 15 inches,
semi -grouser type. Area of track ground contact shall,be not less than
2450 square inches. The tracks shall have a minimum of 6 lower track
rollers.
STANDARD AND GENERAL PURPOSE BUCKETS: To be completely hydraulic con-
trolled and operated with minimum capacity of licubic yards, S.A.E.
standard rated.
Bucket widths of the standard bucket and the multi-purpose bucker shall
not be less than the width of the tractor, outside of track to outside
of track. Bucket height at maximum dump angle shall not.be'less than
8 feet 4 inches for the standard bucket. Both buckets shall be equipped
with a full set of heavy duty bucket teeth with removable tips.
TRANSMISSION: Power shift with torque convertor providing at least 2
speeds forward and 2 reverse.
GUARD EQUIPMENT: To include radiator, crankcase, transmission guards
and hood side plates. The truck frame, idler and sprocket guard shall
be a heavy duty guard.
COUNTERWEIGHTS: Each bidder shall include a counterweight in his bid
if such weights are necessary for safe operation of the machine.
WEIGHT: Bidders shall state the shipping weight of his machine equipped
with the standard bucket and less any counterweights needed. ,
GENERAL: The tractor shall be equipped with power steering and power
brakes, and rear mounted drawbar.
All parts and accessories not specifically mentioned which are necessary
to provide a complete and workable crawler type diesel tractor highlift
shall be provided by the successful bidder.
All bidders shall furnish with bid, all factory specifications giving
information on all of the foregoing specifications:
Each bidder shall state the length and terms of the warranty offered by
his firm.
Each bidder shall state date of delivery, provideft his bid is accepted.
The successful bidder shall furnish two (2) operating manuals and two (2)
parts books, to be delivered with equipment.
TRADE IN: Offered for trade in is one (1) 1960 model, Caterpillar 955
Traxcavator end loader, equipped with a 1i cubic yard standard bucket.

SPECIFICATIONS FOR CRAWLER TYPE HIGHLIFT 2 YD
The highli£t shall be the latest or current model. Each bidder shall
state the year and model his bid is based on.
ENGINES To be full diesel, six (6) cylinder, four (4) cycle, with a
minimum piston displacement of 429 cibic inches.
To have 24 volt direct electric starting system. To be equipped with
a dry type air cleaner with service indicator, oil and fuel filters:
All standard gages including hourmeter: Pusher type fan. Hood side
plates shall be included.
TRACKS: Gage to be a minimum of 7G. inches: Shoe width minimum shall
be 16 inches, semi -grouser type. Area of track ground contact shall
be not less than 3416 square inches.
Tracks shall have a minimum of seven (7) lower rollers, positively
sealed, lifetime or 2000 hour lubricated bearings.
BUCKER: To be controlled by complete hydraulic system and a capacity
of no less than 2� cubic }yards, S.A.E. rates. The hydraulic system
and bucker shall be capable of a breakout or digging force of not less
than 30,200 pounds. Bucker width shall not be less than the full width
of the tractor including tracks. Height at maximum dumping angle shall
be no less than nine (9) feet. The bucker shall be equipped with a
full set of heavy duty bucket teeth with replacable tips.
TRANSMISSION: Power shift with torque convertor providing at least 3
forward speeds and 2 reverses.
GUARD EQUIPMENT: To include radiator, crankcase, and transmission guards.
Full truck frame guard consist of heavy duty truck wheel, idler and
sprocket guards.
WEIGHT: Shipping weight of the entire unit shall be not less than
32,000 pounds.
GENERAL: Tractor shall be equipped with power steering and power brakes,
rear mounted drawbar, chrome plated hydraulic push and dump rods.
All bidders shall furnish with his bid, factory specifications giving
information on all of the pertinent foregoing specifications.
Each bidder shall state the length and terms of the warranty proposed
by his firm.
All parts and accessories not specifically mentioned which are necessary
to provide a complete and workable crawler type diesel tractor highlift
shall be provided by the successful bidder.
Each bidder shall state the date of delivery provided his bid is
accepted.
The successful bidder shall furnish the purchaser with two (2) operations
manuals and two (2) parts book to be delivered with the equipment.
Each bidder shall state amount bid on the specified equipment less the
amount offered for the trade in. Offered for trade in is one (1) 1960
Caterpillar 955 Traxcavator End Loader: Equipped with a 1zl cubic yard
bucket.
Each bidder must made separate bids as to each one of the above
described pieces of equipment as no consolidated bid for both will be
considered,as it is the intention of the City to purchase only one
of the same. Each bidder must include or.refer to all applicable
taxes necessary to be paid by the City.
SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by
posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the
request for bids in the Sun -Democrat to be published not less than seven
days nor more than twenty-one days before the date fixed for the opening
of same. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after
the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received
by the City Manager up to the time .fixed in the notice for the opening

of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a
contract to the lowest and best bidder, and said Board shall reserve
the right to reject any and all bids and the City shall not become
legally obligated to any bidder until the adoption of an ordinance
authorizing the execution of a purchase contract.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
