AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING RULES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY, PROVIDING FOR COMPLUSORY RETIREPRENT OF ALL EMPLOYEES OF
SAID CITY AT AGE 65, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COT-?r1ISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. Except as specifically set out hereinafter, any
emplovee of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, who, at the effective date���
of this ordinance, is 65 years of age, shall be required to retire �
from such emplovment not later than sir, (6) months after such
effective. date.
SECTION 2, Except as specifically set out hereinafter, each
emplovee of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, upon reaching the age of 65
years after the effective date of this ordinance, shall be required
to immediately retire from such employment: however, such employment
may he extended, not to exceed one (1) period of six (6) months, by
motion adopted by the Poard of Commissioners of said City.
SECTIOP] 3. Nothing in this ordinance shall be construed to
compel any member of the Police Department or Fire Department of the
City of Paducah, Kentuckv, able to perform his assigned duties, to
retire before nompleting at least twenty (20) years of such employment
as provided for by Section 9{-858 of Kentucky Revised Statutes.
SECTION 6_ Nothing in this ordinance shall be construed to
compel any employee of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, who is properly
and legally emploved under civil service as provided for in Chapter 90
of Kentucky Revised Statutes and applicable ordinances, able to
perform his assigned duties, to retire before completing employment
necessary for full civil service pension benefits.
SECTION 5. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed.
SECTION 6. That if any section, paragraph or provision of
this ordinance shall be found to be inoperative, ineffective or
invalid for any cause, the deficiency or invalidity of such section,
paragraph or provision shall not affect anv other section, paragraph
or provision hereof, it being the purpose and intent of this ordinance
to make each and every section, paragraph and provision hereof
separable from all other sections, parauraphs and provisions.
SECTION 7. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
