HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 15, Page 58, No Resolution Number`Ji A RESOLUTION AMENDING SECTION 2 OF A RESOLUTION ENTITLED: "A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, `.APPROVING THE PLANS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A CITY HALL PREPARED BY EDWARD DURELL STONE, ARCHITECT OF NEW YORK CITY, AND LEE POTTER SMITH & ASSOCIATES OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, ASSOCIATE ARCHITECT; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION THEREOF UPON CONCURRENCE OF THE REGIONAL OFFICE OF HOUSING AND HOME FINANCE AGENCY, WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COPWISSIONERS ON APRIL 2, 1963 WHEREAS on April 2, 1963, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, adopted a resolution entitled as above, authorizing and directing the City Manager to advertise for bids for the construction of a city hall building from plans and specifications prepared by Edward Durell Stone, Architect of New York City, and Lee Potter Smith & Associates of Paducah, Kentucky, Associate Architect, such construction being known as Project No. APW-Ky-44G, and WHEREAS by said resolution it was provided that bids would be received for such construction until 2:00 o'clock P.M. (C.S.T.) on May 8, 1963, and WHEREAS it is the belief of the said Board of Commissioners that the time for receiving such bids should be extended by a period of Fifteen (15) days in order to give bidders more time in which to prepare and submit their bids. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Section 2 of a resolution adopted on April 2, 1963, entitled as above. subject to the concurrence by the Regional Office of Housing and Home Finance Agency, United States of America, be amended and readopted so that after such amendment and readoption said section shall read as follows: "SECTION 2. That upon the concurrence hereof by the Regional Office of Housing and Home Finance Agency, the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to advertise for bids for the construction of the city hall mentioned in Section 1 hereof, using substantially the following form: 'ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS 'Project No. APW-KY-44G Citv of Paducah. Kentuckv Owner 'Separate sealed bids for the construction of a City Hall for the City of Paducah, Kentucky, will be received by the City of Paducah, Kentucky, in the Commissioners' Chamber, Third Floor, City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, until 2:00 o'clock P.M. (C.S.T.), 23 Ifav 1963, and then at said office, publicly opened and read aloud. W1 'The information for Bidders, Form of Bid, Form of Contract;. Plans, Specifications, and Forms of Bid Bond and Performance Bond may be examined at the following: Edward Durell Stone, Architect, New York, New York. Lee Potter Smith &. Associates of Paducah, Inc., Paducah, Kentucky Associated General Contractors, Paducah, Kentucky. Southern Illinois Builders Association, Belleville, Illinois. Builders Exchange;;i Louisville, Kentucky. F. IV. Dodge Corporation Plan Rooms in the Cities of Memphis, Tennessee; Nachville, Tennessee, Louisville, Kentucky; Evandville, Indiana; St. Louis, Missouri. 'Copies may be obtained at the office of Lee Potter Smith & Associates of Paducah, Inc., 2221 Broadway, Paducah, Kentucky, upon payment of $100.00 for each set. Any bona fide bidder, upon returning such set promptly (within two (2) weeks after bid opening), and in Pgod condition, will be refunded his payment, and any non -bidder upon so returninP such a set will be refunded }70.00. 'The owner reserves the richt to waive any informalities or to reject any or all bids. 'Each bidder must deposit with his bid, security in the amount, form and subject to the conditions provided in the Information for Bidders. 'Attention of bidders is particularly called to the requirements as to conditions of employment to be observed and minimum wage rates to be paid under the contract. 'No bidder may withdraw his bid within 30 days after the actual date of the opening thereof. CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY Raleigh Brockman City Manager' 'The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in the Sun Democrat to be published not less than seven (7) days nor more than twenty-one (21) days before the date fixed for the opening of bids. The City Manager may publish the notice of the request for bids more than one (1) time in the Sun Democrat and any other publication at his discretion. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received up to the time fixed in the notice for the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest and best bidder, and the Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the City shall not become leFally obligated to any bidder until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a purchase contract." 00 SECTION 2. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after the concurrence hereof by the Regional Office of Housing and Home Finance Agency of the United States. C- .
