HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 15, Page 391, No Resolution Number391 11� A RESOLUTION REQUESTING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE FURNISHING AND INSTALLATION OF THEATER SEATING (COUNCIL CHAMBER) AND PEW SEATING (POLICE COURT) FOR THE NEW CITY HALL BUILDING BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF C0144ISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to advertise for bids for the furnishing and installation of theater seating (Council Chamber) and pew seating (Police Court) for the new City Hall building according to plans and specifications prepared by Edward Durell Stone, Architect of New York City and Lee Potter Smith & Associates, Associate Architect, and in so advertising the City Manager will use 'substantially the following form: "INVITATION FOR BIDS "The City of Paducah, Kentucky, will receive sealed bids for the furnishing and installation of theater seating (Council Chamber) and pew seating (Police Court) for the new City Hall building in said City until 3:00 o'clock F.M. (C.S.T.) on the 13th day of October, 1964, in the Commission Chamber, Third Floor, present City Hall building in said City, and at that time will be publicly opened and read aloud. "Information for Bidders, Conditions, Form of Bid, Plans and Specifications may be examined at the City Manager's office, Third Floor, present City Hall building in Paducah, Kentucky. "Copies of documents may be obtained at said office by depositing a certified check or cashier's check payable to the City of Paducah in the amount of Five Dollars ($5.00) or cash with the City Manager for each set so obtained. Any bona fide bidder returning such a set within ten (10) days after bid opening and in good condition will be refunded his payment. No refunds shall be made to non -bidders. "A certified check or cashier's check payable to the City of Paducah, or a satisfactory bid bond executed by the Bidder and acceptable sureties in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the bid shall be submitted with each bid. "The successful bidder will be required to furnish and pay for satisfactory performance and payment bond or bonds and satis- factory workmen's compensation and liability insurance. "The City reserves the right to waive any informalities in the bidding and to reject any or all bids. "No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of forty-five (45) days subsequent to the opening of bids unless authorized by official action of the Board of Commissioners of said City. Brockman City Manager" 392 The City Manager shall advertise .for sealed bids by posting; a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the Invitation for Bids in the Sun -Democrat to be published at least one (1) time not less than seven (7) days nor more than twenty-one (21) days before the date fixed for the opening of bids. No bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received up to the time fixed in the notice for the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest and best bidder or bidders, and said Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities in the bidding, and the City shall not become legally obligated to any bidder until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a contract. SECTION 2.
