AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE FINAL REPORT OF THE PADUCAH-McCRACKEN
COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION RESPECTING THE REVISION OF THE PADUCAH
ZONING ORDINANCE -1961 SO AS TO INCLUDE A C014PREHENSIVE DEFINITION OF
"MOTEL" AND SO AS TO TREAT THE MATTER OF OFF-STREET PARKING REQUIRE-
MENTS FOR MOTELS AND EMPLOYEES, AND AMENDING SAID ORDINANCE IN THAT
RESPECT
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That a Resolution adopted by the Paducah -McCracken
Countv Planning Commission on February 19, 1964, entitled "A RESOLUTION
CONSTITUTING THE FINAL REPORT OF THE PADUCAH-McCRACKEN COUNTY PLANNING
COMMISSION RESPECTING THE REVISION OF THE PADUCAH ZONING ORDINANCE -1961
SO AS TO INCLUDE A COMPREHENSIVE DEFINITION OF "MOTEL" AND SO AS TO
TREAT THE MATTER OF OFF-STREET PARKING REQUIREMENTS FOR MOTELS AND
EMPLOYEES", shall be, and it is hereby, approved as the final report
of said Commission respecting the matters therein set forth.
SECTION 2. That Section 4-43 of the Paducah Zoning Ordinance -
1961 (Ordinance Book 1L, page 507) shall be and it is hereby, amended, so
that in its amended state it will read as follows:
"43. Hotel or Motel - A building, or portion thereof, or ?roup
of buildings in which lodging is provided and offered
to the public .for compensation and which is open to
transient guests, in contradistinction to a boarding
or lodging house. 'Motel' denotes such a facility whose
location, design, layout, access to rooms, parking
arrangements and other related aspects, are, in the
opinion of the Commission, indicative of an intent to
cater to that segment of transients who travel in
automobiles."
SECTION 3. That Section 9 -III -A-16 of the said Paducah Zoning
Ordinance -1961 shall be, and it is hereby, amended, so that in its
amended state it will read as follows:
1116. For any motel there shall be provided at least one parking
space for each sleeping room, plus one parking space for
each three employees, plus parking spaces in numbers
determined in accordance with the provisions of this
Ordinance for other uses on or in the same premises, such
as restaurants, cocktail lounge, gift shop, etc."
SECTION 4. That there shall be incorporated in the said
Paducah Zoning Ordinance -1961 a new Section 9 -III -G, it to read as
follows:
"G. Employee Requirements - All provisions of this Section
relating to off-street parking requirements for employees
shall be deemed to be applicable to the greatest number
of employees on duty at any one time, as distinguished
from total employees on the payroll."
SECTION 5. That if any section, paragraph or provision of this
ordinance shall be found to be inoperative, ineffective or invalid for
any cause, the deficiency of invalidity of such section, paragraph

or provision shall not affect any other section, paragraph or provision
hereof, it being the purpose and intent of this ordinance to make each
and every section, paragraph and provision hereof separable from all
other sections, paragraphs and provisions.
SECTION 6. That this ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption.
