"AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE PUILDINC. CODE -RECOMMENDED BY THE NATIONAL
BOARD OF FIRE UNDERWRITERS, EXCEPT CERTAIN CLAUSES AND SECTIONS
THEREOF WHICH ARE HEREBY EXPRESSLY ELIMINATED, AND ALSO ADOPTING
THE STANDARDS OF SAFETY APPROVED BY THE DIVISION OF INSURANCE FIRE
PREVENTION AND RATES SECTION CF THE STATE OF KENTUCKY; PROVIDING
FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF A BUILDING INSPECTOR TO ADMINISTER AND ENFORCE
THE PROVISIONS OF THE BUILDING CODE AND THE STANDARDS OF SAFETY;
FIXING THE FEES TO BE CHARGED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH FOR BUILDING
AND JRECKINO PERMITS; FIXING AND PRESCRIBINn THE QUALIFICATIONS
OF THE BUILDING INSPECTOR, HIS COMPENSATION, POWERS AND DUTIES;
PP.OVIDING A SEPARABILITY CLAUSE AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT THEREWITH; AND FIXING THE PENALTY FOR VICLATION THEREOF",

BE IT ORDAINED PY THE BOARD OF COP31ISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Sectior. 3 of an ordinance containins the
title quoted alo^e, which was adopted ' the Poard of Commissioners
on Septemlher 2.L, 191`, and amended on December o, 19c8, be, and
the same is here: repealed, amended and reordained so that said
section as amended and reordained shall read as follows:
"SECTION 3. The Buildinrr Inspector shall, upon his approval
of plans and specifications for 'uildinrrs and structures in accordance
with the provisions of the Building* Code, the Standards of Safety,
and all laws and ordinaries relating- to the same subiect matter,
issue a permit to the applicant therefor upon the payment to the
Citv of Paducah of fees as follows:
"For each huildin- permit coverinF the construction, alteration
or repair of am! luildir� or structure to cost less than 4300.00
no fee shall le charged unless an inspection is required in which
case tlere shall ue a 42.00 fee; to cost, less than x;1,000.00 the
fee shall 'e ?L•.00; to cost 41,000.00 the fee shall he x:J;.00 and
21�, for each additional 4100.00 or Fractional part thereof up
to x3,000.00; ar.d to cost x3,000.00 tie fee slall l -e 410.00 and 42.00
for each additional 4'1,000.00 or fractional part thereof.
"There is excepted and e;-empt from the application of this
crdinance and of this section, and no •ui.ldin- permit shall 1-e
required for, the repai.ntinr• of an existing- l:ui.ldi.nr, or the repair
or replacement of a roof on an e-isting- luildinr•, pro,,ided the
repaintinrs or the repair or replacement of t}..e roof of an existinrr

buildinp- does not require an- structural chane or repair, including
an,r redeckinr• of the roof, on the existinF building. If, in the
repainting or repair or replacement of a roof on an existing
1-uildinR, any structural chance or repair, includi.na any redecking
o.f the roof is involved, then the building permit shall be required
' and the fee therefor computed only for the structural chance or
repair, includirar redeckinm.
"In the e-ent an- construction, alteration or repair of any
1-uildir,F or structure is commenced before a permit is issued for
same by the Buildinr Inspector, then a penalty shall be charged for
the issuance of the permit in addition to the regular fee, which
penalty shall be in the amount of $5.00 or in an amount equal to
10' of the permit fee wb iche=ver amount is larFer."
SECTION 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
ierewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
