A RESOLUTION REQUESTING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SANITARY SEWERAGE EXTENSIONS,
CONTRACT D-1966
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby,
requested and authorized to advertise for bids for the construction
of sanitary sewerage extensions, Contract D-1960, according: to plans
and specifications prepared by Edward T. Hannan & Associates, Inc.
and in so advertising he will use substantially the following form:
"ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
1.1.01 RECEIPT OF PROPOSALS: The Board of Commissioners
Of the City of Paducah, McCracken County, Kentucky, will
receive bids for the construction of sewerage extensions
until 2:00 o'clock P.M. (CDT) on the 20th day of October
1966, at the City Commission Chamber in the City Hall,
Paducah, Kentucky, at which time and place the bids will
publicly be opened and read along.
1.1.02 PROJECT: The project consists of furnishing;
materials and constructing all the following items:
a. Approximately 2,Olh:linear feet of 12" vitrified
clay sewer pipe.
b. Approximately 2,155 linear feet of 10" vitrified
clay sewer pipe.
c. Approximately 2,F36.1 linear feet of $" vitrified
clay sewer pipe.
d. Approximately 6,113 linear feet of 6" vitrified
clay sewer pipe for service connections.,
e. Approximately 27 manholes.
f. Such other work as may be incidental thereto as
listed in the Proposal or shown on the drawings.
1.1.03 OBTAINING CONTRACT DOCUMENTS: Proposed forms of
Contract Documents, including Plans and Specifications are
on file at the offices of Edward T. Hannan and Associates,
Inc.,2221 Broadway, P. 0. Box. 1349, Avondale Station,
Paducah, Kentucky, and may be obtained at the offices of
the Engineer on or after the 5th day of October 1966.
Copies of the documents will also be on file at the office
of the Associated General Contractors, Paducah, Kentucky.
a. Copies of the documents may be obtained by
depositing $50.00 with the Engineer for each set of
documents so obtained. The deposits of all who submit
a proposal will be refunded.in full upon return of the
Contract Documents in rood condition within ten (10) days
after the opening of bids, except the successful bidder,
whose deposit will be retained. Bidders returning un-
usable plans or specifications, nonbidders, including
material suppliers and subcontractors, and those returning
plans and specifications after the above mentioned ten (10)
day period will be refunded 50% of their deposit.
1.1.04 PROPOSAL GUARANTY: A satisfactory bid bond exe-
cuted by the bidder and acceptable sureties in an amount
equal to five percent (5%) of the bid shall be submitted
with each bid.
1.1.05 PERFORMANCE BOND AND LABOR AND MATERIALS BOND:
The successful bidder will he required to furnish and
pay for satisfactory Performance Bond and Labor and
Materials Payment Bond - each in the amount of 1000 of
the Contract, as provided for in the specifications.
1.1.06 WAGE RATES: Attention of bidders is particularly_
called to the requirement as to minimum wage rates as

determined by the Department of Labor, Commonwealth of
Kentucky to be paid under this Contract.
1.1.07 OWNER'S RIGHTS RESERVED: The City of Paducah
reserves the rip -ht to reject any or all bids or waive
any informalities in the bidding. No bid shall be with-
drawn for a period of thirty (30) days subsequent to the
opening of bids without the consent of the City of Paducah.

SECTION 2. The City Manaper shall advertise for sealed bids by
posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the
invitation for bids in the Sun -Democrat to be published at least one (1)
time not less than seven days nor more than twenty-one days before the
date fixed for the opening of bids. No bid shall be received after the
hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received up
to the time fixed in the notice for the opening of same shall be filed
with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest and
best bidder. Said Board shall reserve the right to reject any and all
bids, to waive informalities in the bidding and the City shall not become
legally obligated to any bidder until the adoption of an ordinance
authorizing the execution of a contract.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
