A RESOLUTION RELATING'TO THE PLANNING PROGRAM FOR THE CITY OF
PADUCAH AND McCRACKEN COUNTY, KENTUCKY
WHEREAS this Board has heretofore attempted to cause the
establishment and formation of a ,joint planning unit by the city of
Paducah and the County of McCracken, as authorized by Chapter 100 of
the Kentucky Revised Statutes, but has met failure in that respect,
and
_WHEREAS this Board thereafter established the City of Paducah
as an Independent Planning Unit in accordance with the provisions of
said Statutes, and has also established a Planning Commission and a
Board of Adjustment to function within such Independent Planning Unit
as required by said Statutes, and
WHEREAS it is.considered advisable and desirable that a
formal report of such activities be made to the proper authority of
the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and
WHEREAS it is also considered desirable to make known to
such authority the sentiments of this Board concerning the future
formation of a joint planning unit with the County of McCracken, if
that can be accomplished under terms and conditions mutually acceptable,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That copies of the following documents and
proceedings shall be certified by the City Clerk to the' Division
of Community Planning and Development, Department of Commerce, of
the Commonwealth -of Kentucky:
1. A resolution adopted by this Board on June 16, 1966,
entitled "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE INTERROGATION OF THE COUNTY
OF McCRACKEN, KENTUCKY RESPECTING THE FORMATION OF A JOINT PLANNING
UNIT WITHIN THE PURVIEW OF CHAPTER 100 OF THE KENTUCKY REVISED
STATUTES".
2. The proposed agreement between the City of Paducah,
Kentucky and the County of McCracken, Kentucky, as referred to in
said resolution of June 16, 1966.
3. The letter addressed by the Mayor of the City of Paducah
to the County Judge and the County Commissioners of McCracken
County, dated June 16, 1966.
4. The suggested budget referred to in item No. 3.
5. The letter dated August 4, 1966 addressed to the Mayor
and Commissioners of the City of Paducah by the County Judge and
County Commissioners of McCracken County, Kentucky.

6. The resolution adopted by this Board on August 12, 1966
entitled "A RESOLUTION CONSTITUTING THE RESPONSE OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY TO THE INTERROGATION OF THE COUNTY OF McCRACKEN,
KENTUCKY RESPECTING THE FORMATION OF A JOINT PLANNING UNIT WITHIN
THE PURVIEW OF CHAPTER 100 OF THE KENTUCKY REVISED STATUTES".
7. The resolution adopted on August 16, 1966 by the
McCracken Fiscal Court entitled "A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A PLANNING
COMMISSION KNOWN AS McCRACKEN COUNTY PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION".
$. The ordinance adopted by this Board on August 24, 1966
entitled "AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
AS AN INDEPENDENT CITY PLANNING UNIT WITHIN THE PURVIEW OF CHAPTER
100 OF THE KENTUCKY REVISED STATUTES, ESTABLISHING A PLANNING
COMMISSION AND A BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT, AND OTHER RELATED MATTERS,
AND CONSTITUTING SUCH ORDINANCE A 'REGULATION' WITHIN THE PURVIEW
OF SAID STATUTES".
SECTION 2. That -this Board reiterate and reemphasize its
continuing desire for the formation of a ,point planning unit by the
City of Paducah, Kentucky and the County of McCracken, Kentucky, as
permitted by the aforesaid Statutes, it being recognized that the
interests of the citizens of both the said City and the said County
in the field of planning and zoning will be best served and preserved
by a joint operation, rather than by the separate activities of
independent units.
. SECTION 3. That a copy of this resolution shall be certified
by the City Clerk to the said Division of. Community Planning and
Development-, Department of Commerce of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
SECTION 4. That this resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption.
