BIDS FOR FURNISHING THE CITY WITH READY MIX ARID/OR TRANSIT MIX CONCRETE FOR A PERIOD OF SIX MONTHS BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, ane he is hereby, authorized to advertise .for bids for .furnishing the City of Paducah, Kentucky with its requirement of ready mix, and/or transit mix concrete .for a period of six montls from the date of the purchase contract. Each bidder shall state the price of concrete in the following quantities and mixes: Quantities 1 cubic yard or more 3A cuhic ;card cubic yard ti cubic vard Cement Portion s -Bags to cubic vard . s�. Bags to cubic vard Bags to cubic yard F' Bags to cubic yard 7 Bags to cubic yard 71 Bans to cubic yard Baus to cubic vard SPECIFICATIONS CONCRETE Composition: The cement shall he air entrained and composed of cement, fine and coarse aggregates, and water so proportioned and mixed as to produce a plastic workable mix. a. The mix shall 'ne desir-ned in such a manner that the following strenrth requirements shall be met; in 28 days: 5 t-ag mix 2500 P.S.I. 5z hag mix. 3000 P.S.I. 6 bay- mix 3500 P.S.I. 6 7,ar, mix /.000 P.S.I. 7 bar mix LrOO F.S.I. 7.bav mix x000 F.S.I. � bas mix 5500 P.S.I. Cement: Cement for all consrete shall conform to standard specifications for "Portland Cement" ASTM Designation C150, Type I. a. Air Entrained: Air entrainment shall be at the rate of 1;-'% �� plus or minus 1%. "1 AGGREGATE a. Sand or Fine Appregate: The fine aggregate shall meet 4he gradation requirements of the Kentucky Department of Highways. b. Coarse Aggregate: The coarse aggregate shall consist of Limestone and shall conform to the gradation requirements of the Kentucky Depart- ment of Highways for Class "A" concrete. WATER A. The water shall be clear, clean and .free from inJurious amounts of acid, alkalies, oils, organic or other deleterious substances. 1022 b. Water Content: The total moisture content of the mix shall he proportioned in such quantities as to produce a minimum slump of three (3) inches and a maximum slump of four &. one-half (41) inches. TESTING a. The City reserves the right to request any such tests. deemed necessary to insure that it isreceiving concrete of the quality called -for in these specifications. All such tests shall be run by an independent testing laboratory in accordance with . A.S.T.M. standards.. DELIVERY a. Failure to meet scheduled deliveries within.a reasonable length of time, shall constitute a breach of contract on the part .of the supplier. In this event, the city reserved the right to refuse delivery and halt all purchases. b. All char?es for truck waiting time shall be incorporated into a unit price for concrete per yard, and/or fractions thereof. COLD WATER CONCRETE a. Calcium Chloride: Each bidder shall state the price per pound for Calcium Chloride. b. The Calcium Chloride content shall not exceed 2%. SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting,notice of the reeuest for bids in the Sun=Democrat not -less than seven days nor more than -twenty-one days before the opening of same. All -bids shall be sealed and no hid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All.bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed for the opening''d same shall be .filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let'a,contract to the lowest and best bidder and the Board of Commissioners shall reserve the richt to reject any and all bids and the City shall not become lesally obligated to purchase said products until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a purchase -contract. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall he in full ,force and effect from and after its adoption.
