HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 14, Page 829, No Resolution Number829 , A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE PROPOSAL FOR PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES OF BURNS & McDONNELL ENGINEERING COMPANY FOR A SUPPLEMENTAL REPORT ON RELIEF SEWERS FOR SANITARY SYSTEM AND RATE STUDY; AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the proposal dated October 15, 1962, of Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company for professional engineering services for a supplemental report on relief sewers for sanitary system and rate study be accepted, such proposal being in words and figures as follows: "Honorable Mayor and Board of Commissioners City of Paducah Paducah, Kentucky Subject: Proposal for Professional Engineering_ Services - Supplemental Report on Relief Sewers for Sanitary System and Rate Study Gentlemen: We are pleased to submit herein our proposal for professional engineering services: (a) Prepare a Supplemental Report on Relief Sewers for the Combined System, bringing up to date the 'Master Plan Report - Sanitary, Storm, and Combined Sewers' pre- sented January 27, 1961, and (b) Prepare a sewerage system rate study and report, in- cluding a recommended rate schedule, (c) Prepare necessary applications for Federal funds avail- able to finance the proposed construction. The supplemental report will be based upon and developed from said Master Plan Report, but will present the newly accumulated evidence of sanitary pollution from the existing system and orient the proposed improvements to projects involving alleviation of the health hazards presented. This will require some modification of Steps I and II as originally presented. The rate study will be prepared in sufficient detail to present a recom- mended revision to the existing sewerage system rate schedule to pro- vide the necessary financing and operation of the improvements proposed in the Supplemental Report. In both the report and rate study, consideration will be given to the availability of Federal funds under the recently enacted Public Works Acceleration Act' and other sources. Maps and estimates of construction costs for the improvements will be brought up to date. Thirty (30) copies of the completed report, including the rate study will be furnished. The Engineers agree that all services shall be rendered by engineer- ing personnel qualified for the particular work, and all such services so rendered shall be under the direction of a professional engineer licensed to practice in the State of Kentucky. The Engineers further agree to obtain the approval of the State Board of Health for the proposed plan of improvements. If this proposal is accepted, the Engineers agree to begin work within seven (7) days after notification, and to proceed as expeditiously as possible to completion. 830 In consideration for these services, Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company's compensation shall be as follows: (a) The City agrees to pay the Engineers an amount equal to their direct costs, exclusive of traveling and living expenses, plus an amount equal to sixty per cent (60%) of such actual costs for general overhead costs, plus an amount equal to twenty-five per cent (25%) of the sum of such actual costs and general overhead, for profit. (b) All expenses (travel, subsistence, communications, outside consulting services, reproduction, car mileage, photography, commercial services, etc.) shall be re- imbursed at actual net cost thereof. Cherry, Mayor, be, and he is hereby, authorized to accept such proposal on behalf of the City of Paducah, Kentucky. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be introduced and remain on file for public inspection for at least one (1) week in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage, and it being necessary for the public health and safety that such report be received as soon as possible, an emergency is now declared and this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption. r ��� e �� C. .
