WITH RESPECT TO AN ORDINANCE ENACTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF
THE CITY OF PADUCAH UNDER DATE OF MAY 6, 1962 FIXING THE AMOUNT OF THE
SALARY TO BE PAID TO THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY
WHEREAS petitions have been filed with the City Clerk of the
City of Paducah protesting the passage of an ordinance under date of
May 6, 1962, which fixed the amount of the salary to be paid to the
Director of Public Safety of said City, requesting that said ordinance
be reconsidered, and requesting further that if it is not them repealed,
the question as to whether it shall go into effect be submitted to the
voters of the said City at the next general election, and
WHEREAS it appears from the affidavits of two parties attached
to this resolution that some of the signatures on said petitions are
not genuine, or were obtained for other purposes and were affixed
to said petitions without the permission of the signers, and
WHEREAS it appears that some of the affidavits attached to various
sections of said petitions have been altered, and it is not made to appear
whether the alterations were made before or after the affidavits were
executed, and
WHEREAS by reason of the facts recited above, the integrity and
authenticity of said petitions are subject to question.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE
CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the Corporation Counsel of the 0ity of Paducah shall
be directed to institute appropriate legal proceedings for the purpose of
determining the validity of the said petitions.
SECTION 2. That if in the course of the preparation for and prosecution
of said legal proceedings it appears that some criminal act may possibly have
been committed by any party or parties, said Corporation Counsel shall bring
the matter to the attention of the proper law enforcement authorities of
McCracken County, Kentucky and to the attention of the grand jury next impanel ed
in said County after the discovery of such possible law violations.
SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
