AN ORDINANCE SUBI-LOTTING TO THE VOTERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY ON THE REGULAR ELECTION DAY ON NOVEMBER 7, 1961, TIM--
QUESTION
IM:QUESTION OF INCREASING THE ANNUAL LEVY OF TAXES FOR SUPPORT OF
PADUCAH JUNIOR COLLEGE FROM A 1.1AXIPUIP-1 OF SEVEN (7�) CENTS TO A

WHEREAS for many years the City of Paducah has made an annual
tax levy for support of Paducah Junior College under KRS 165.170
which section, prior to 1960, provided for the levy of a tax of
not less than five (5) cents nor more than seven (70) cents
on each one hundred (.,100.00) dollars worth of property subject to
taxation for city purposes, and
WHEREAS the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky
at its 1960 Session amended said section to provide for an annual
levy fdr the support of similar colleges of a tax of not less than
five (50) cents nor more than fourteen (140) cents on each one
hundred (.A00.00) dollars worth of property subject to taxation for
city purposes after an election is held as required by Section 1$4
of the Constitution of Kentucky, and
1.1HEREAS the Legislative Body of the City of Paducah, Kentucky
has been requested by Paducah Junior College to cause the question of
increasing the annual levy of taxes for its support to be placed on
the ballot for a vote on the regular election day on November 7, 1961,
1101:1 THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF
THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. Pursuant to KRS 165.170 (as amended in 1960) there
is hereby submitted to the voters of the City of Paducah, Kentucky
on the regular election day on November 7, 1961, the question of
increasing the annual levy of taxes for support of Paducah Junior
College from a maximum of seven (70 cents to a maximum of fourteen

(140) cents on each one hundred (•,x100.00) dollars worth of property !i
subject to taxation for city purposes, and in that regard such �l
question so submitted shall be in words and .figures as follows on I
the official ballot:

"ARE YOU IN FAVOR OF INCREASING THE ANINUAL LEVY OF TAXES
FOR SUPPORT OF PADUCAH JUNIOR COLLEGE FROM A MAXIMUM OF I
SEVEII (7¢) CENTS TO A MAXIMUI'•'1 OF FOURTEEN (140 CENTS ON
EACH ONE HUNDRED (,x100.00) DOLLARS F°JORTH OF PROPERTY SUBJECT
TO TAXATION FOR CITY PURPOSES?"
Opposite the question shall be printed "YES" and "NOT' with
the proper space for placing the crossmark to indicate preference.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall cause a notice of the election
set forth in Section 1 hereof to be published in at least one issue
of the Sun -Democrat not less than seven days nor more than twenty-one
days before the regular election to be held on November 7, 1961.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify this ordinance to the
Clerk of the McCracken County Court.
SECTIOhT 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
