A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COPIMISSION OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY ENDORSING THE PRESENTATION OF AAI AREA OVERALL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
PROGRAM IN ACCORDANCE LITH THE PROVISIONS OF THE AREA DEVELOPMENT ACT
I9HEREAS, on Hay 1, 1961, the President of the United States signed
into law the AREA REDEVELOPMENT ACT, the purpose of which Act is
to assist certain areas in this Country which have been subjected to chronic
unemployment for long periods of time; and
IfiHEREAS, subsequent to the passage pf said Act, the Paducah area
was designated as an area needing special assistance under said Act in
order to overcome its unemployment problem; and
V!I?EREAS, the Commissioners and other Officials of the City of
Paducah have long recognized the need for industrial expansion in the Paducah
area in order to provide additional employment for its citizens; and
1TIEREAS, the Commissioners and Officials of said City further
recognize and believe that Federal assistance under said Act can materially
help any community willing to work hard for its own economic improvement;
and
IHEREAS, the Commissioners and Officials of said City have
heretofore participated in discussions pertaining to an application which
would be filed for such assistance, during which discussions it was
determined that the proper organization to present the OVERALL ECONOPIIC
DEVELOPT:IENT PROGRAM required under the said Act is the PADUCAH
INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPPIENT ASSOCIATION, INC., a corporation chartered and
existing under the laws of the State of Kentucky;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that
the City of Paducah, acting by and through its Commissioners, endorses the
presentation of this area's OVERALL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRA1.1, all in
accordance with the provisions of said act, and said City pledges its full
assistance and support in attaining the goals necessary in order to improve
the economic condition existing in this community.
This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after
its adoption.
