AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A
CONTRACT WITH WEST KENTUCKY ASPHALT PAVING COMPANY FOR THE RESURFACING
OF VARIOUS STREETS IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, INCLUDING THE
RAISING AND RESETTING OF MANHOLES, CATCH BASINS AND MONUMENTS, AND
PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SAID CONTRACT
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMtIISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby,
authorized to contract with West Kentucky Asphalt Paving Company
(hereinafter referred to as the Contractor) for the resurfacing of
various streets in the City of Paducah, Kentucky, said work shall
be done on the following terms, conditions and specifications:
The surfacing of the present pavement shall be leveled where
necessary and resurfaced with 12—inch application of Kentucky State
Highway Class I, Type B Bituminous concrete surfacing, Class I
Bituminous leveling course, said work to include Bituminous prime
coat RS -1 complying with Kentucky State Highway specifications,
and the raising and resetting to grade of manholes, catch basins
and monuments located in the areas to be resurfaced. The surfacina
shall consist of limestone aggregate complying with Kentucky State
Highway specifications.
Said work of resurfacing shall be paid for by the City to the
Contractor on the following basis:
Class I, Type B Bituminous concrete surface mixture using all
limestone aggregate for the sum of $7.60 per ton.
Bituminous prime coat RS -1 complying with Highway specifica-
tions for the sum of 20¢ per gallon.
Raising and resetting manholes, catch basins and monuments for
the sum of $40.00 each.
The Conttactor shall resurface only such blocks of streets
as may be authorized in writing by the City Manager, and it is
anticipated that approximately 4,000 tons, more or less, of sur-
facing will be required. All work shall be performed under the
direction of the City of Paducah Engineering Department and such
work shall be paid for upon certification of the completion thereof
and when approved and accepted by the City Engineer.
The Contractor is to execute a performance bond or bonds in an
amount not less than the estimated cost of the work authorized by
the City Manager to insure the proper performance and completion of
said work, and in addition will be required to keep in full force
and effect liability insurance to protect the city from any claim
of persons or property of persons in the following amounts:

$50,000 for personal injury or death to any one person
$100,000 for personal injury or death to more than one person
resulting from the same accident, and
$10,000 for damage to property in any one accident.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be introduced and remain on
file for public inspection for at least one (1) week in... -the completed
form in which it shall be put upon its final passage, and if adopted
shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days thereafter.
