A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR 1000
FEET OF 1i -INCH FIRE HOSE AND 1000 FEET OF 2" -INCH FIRE HOSE FOR USE BY THE FIRE
DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS
UPON WHICH SAID PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to
advertise for bids for the purchase of 1000 feet of 1 -1 -inch fire hose and 1000
feet of 2J -inch fire hose to be used by the fire department of the city of
Paducah, Kentucky, and having the following specifications:
1i -inch double jacket cotton rubber lined fire hose in 50 foot lengths, to
be mildew proof or equal. Couplings of the brass forged rocker lug type. The
female half of each coupling shall be stamped with date of manufacture. Coupling

to be new with National Standard Threads and attached at factory.
At each end of hose not approaching within four (4) feet of the coupling the
manufacturer's name, month and year of manufacture and the proof test pressure al
"Tested to 500 lbs.11 shall have iridebily stenciled thereon, in print of not less
than one (1) inch high, using ink of contracting color.
The fire hose furnished under the terms of this proposal shall have a
potential service life of not less than ten (10) years, shall be capable of
withstanding, barring mistreatment or accidental damage, and without deteriora-
tion such as would render the hose unfit for service, normal active duty for a per-
iod of not less than ten (10) years, during which the hose is in active service
outside of storeroom.
The same specifications and conditions shall pertain to the 21 -inch hose
with the exception of the couplings which shall have the Paducah thread.
Each bidder shall submit a sample of the hose bid upon by him and each bid
shall be accompanied by complete detailed specifications.
SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by posting a
notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in the
Sun Democrat to be published not less than seven (7) days nor more than twenty -ole
(21) days before the date fixed for the opening of bids. All bids shall be sealed
and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening if
same. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice
for the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may
let a contract to the lowest and best bidder, and the Board of Commissioners
shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the City shall not become
legally obligated to purchase said hose until the adoption of an ordinance autho
izing the execution of a purchase contract. T

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption.
