AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED:
"AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE POSITIONS OF DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS
AND ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS, PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES
OF SAID POSITIONS AND THE SALARIES THEREOF", WHICH WAS ADOPTED ON
JUNE 8, 1959, AND AMENDED ON SEPTEMBER 22, 1959
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Section 1 of an ordinance containing the title
quoted above, which was adopted by the Board of Commissioners on
June 8, 1959, and amended on September 22, 1959, be, and the same is
hereby amended and reordained so that said section as amended and
reordained shall read as follows:
"SECTION 1. There is hereby created the positions in the
City of Paducah, Kentucky to be known as the Director of Public
Works and Assistant Director of Public :'forks.
The position of Director of Public Works shall be ugder
the direction and supervision of the City Manager. The person
occupying said position of Director of Public Works shall be
charged with the supervision of all work connected with the main-
tenance of streets, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, refuse collection
and disposal and such other related work as may be required by the
City Manager. The salary of the Director of Public ;Yorks shall
be .x390.00 per month and shall be paid at the same time and in
the same manner as the salaries of other employees of the City
are paid.
The position of Assistant Director of Public Works shall
be under the direction and supervision of the Director of Public
Works and the City Manager, and such person shall have the duties
as herein set out for the Director of Public Works. The salary
of the Assistant Director of Public ',forks shall be Qr440.00 per month
and shall be paid at the same time and in the same manner as the
salaries of other employees of the City are paid.
Said positions of Director of Public 'droks and Assistant
Director of Public Works shall not be civi; service positions or
covered by any provisions of the civil service ordinance of the
City of Paducah or by the provisions of the civil service Statutes
of the State of Kentucky, and the persons filling such positions
shall mot acquire any rights under the rules of civil service
governing employees in cities of the second class."

SECTION 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full .force and effect
on and after February 1, 1961.
