HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 14, Page 364, No Resolution Number364 / A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SANITARY SEWERAGE IMPROVEMENTS IN BELLEMEADE ADDITION, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND MANNER IN WHICH SAID BIDS SHALL BE RECEIVED BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to advertise for bids for the construction of sanitary sewerage improvgments in Bellemeade Addition as follows: The work to be performed consists of 10,, and $11 extra strength V.C.P. gravity flow sewers, 4" cast iron force main, ejector unit lift station, with attendant 6" V.C.P, extra strength house service lines, and miscellaneous fittings, all briefly described as follows: Approximately 2041 feet of 1011 extra strength V.C.P. and 6" house sefvice lines on the Kennedy Road and Blandville Road; approx- imately 72 feet of $" extra strength V.C.P. laterals from manholes on Kennedy Road at Peachtree and Miller Dfive; approximately 3030 feet of 4" cast iron force main along the 01andville Road from the ejector unit site near Perkins Creek to the existing cities manhole near Hilldale Road on the Blandville Road; ejector lift station complete including electrical, site grading, access road and miscellaneous piping and raising existing manhole casting on the Blandville Road at the terminus of the 4" cast iron force main. Copies of the plans, specificationa dnd other proposed contract documents are on file at the office of the Consulting Engineers, 1$00 Kentucky Avenue, Paducah, Kentucky. Contractors desiring plans and specifications for use in preparing bids may obtain a set of such documents from the Engineers at the address stipulated above upon deposit of $20.00. The full amount of the deposit will be refunded such to each bidder who has made/deposit and who has filed his bid with the Owner as directed in this notice and upon the formal as prescribed, upon the return of all documents not filed with his bid. A cashiers check, certified check, or acceptable bidder's bond, payable to the Owner in an amount not less than 5 per cent of the total for the bid submitted, must accompany each bid as a guarahtee that, if awarded the contract, the bidder will promptly enter into a contract and execute such bonds as may be required. Each bidder to whom a contract is awarded will be required to furnish a performance bond acceptable to the City in the amount of 100 per cent of the contract, in conformity with the requirements of the proposed contract documents. 365 The right is reserved by the City to reject any and all bids and to waive informalities therein. No bidder may withdraw his bid for a period of 30 days after the time set for receipt of bids. SECTION 2, The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in the Sun Democrat to be published not less than seven (7) days nor more than twenty=one (21) days before the date fixed for the opening of bids. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the norice for the opening cC same. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice for the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest and best bidder, The Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to rOjectany and all bids, and the City shall not become legally obligated to award a contract until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of same.
