A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY P•LANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR
BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE CITY'S RE WIREIZNT OF ASPHALT (EITHER
LIQUID OR EP.IULSIFIED, OR BOTH) FOR TIL YEAR 1959 (API A1,10UNT EQUAL
TO APPROXIMATELY 15 TO 20 CARLOADS) TO BE USED IN STREET COMTRUC-
TION AND REPAIR WORK
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COr-94ISSIONER3 OF THE CITY OP
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY;
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby,
authorized to advertise for the purchase of the City's requirement
of asphalt for the year 1959 (an amount equal to approximately 15
to 20 carloads). Bidders are to give quotations on types MC -2,
MC -3, RC -2, RC -3 liquid asphalt and/or types RS, ISIS and SS emulsified
asphalt. The bid price to be f.o.b. 6th £c Campbell Streets, Paducah,
Kentucky. Bidders are to quote prices for transportation by railroad
tank car and/or transport truck. Orders are to be placed by
collect telephone call to the successful bidder or bidders and
delivery to be made within three to four days after order if shipped
by rail and twenty-four hours after order if shopped by transport
truck.
All asphalt must meet Kentucky State Highway specification and
RC and 1IC types asphalt must meet Kentucky State Highway specifications
of 1,`7-7-7-C and -1,47-7-8-C, and each shipment of liquid asphalt made by
transport truck must be accompanied by a certified statement of
gallonage and net gallonage figured at 600 F.
If the successful bidder on liquid asphalt is to ship by rail,
the asphalt is to be delivered in 6000 or 10,000 gallon insulated
tank cars eo_uipped with fittings and steam coils for heating, and
such bidder will be required to furnish and install a 10,000 or 12,000
gallon storage tank equipped with fittings and steam coils for heating
MC or RC liquid asphalt. If the successful bidder on liquid asphalt
is to deliver same by transport truck the insulation of such storage
tank i -rill not be required.
The successful bidder on emulsified asphalt shall be required
to furnish and install a 10,000 or 12,000 gallon storage tank.
All bids shall provide a guarantee against advance in the market
price and guarantee a reduction in price in the event of a decrease
in the market price. The successful bidder shall post a performance
bond in the sum of ,2,500.00 guaranteeing specifications and delivery.

SECTIOid 2 The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids
by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of
the request for bids in at least three issues of the Sun Democrat
to be published once a week for three consecutive weeks. All bids
shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed
in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received by the
City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice for the opening of
same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let the
contract to the lowest and best bidder and the Board of Commissioners
shall rederve the right to reject any and all bids and the City
shall not become legally obligated to any bidder until the adoption
of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a purchase contract.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
