A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS
FOR FURNISHING THE CITY OF PADUCAH V]ITH ITS REQUIREMENTS OF REGULAR AND
ETHYL GASOLINE, MOTOR OIL, DIESEL FUEL, CHASSIS LUBRICANT, GEAR LUBE OIL,
HYDRAULIC OIL, KEROSENE AND ANTI -FREEZE TO BE USED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH
FROM JANUARY 1, 1960 TO JUNE 30, 1960
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized
to advertise for bids for furnishing the City of Paducah with its require-
ments of regular and ethyl gasoline, motor oil, diesel fuel, chassis
lubricant, gear lube oil, hydraulic oil, kerosene and anti -freeze for the
period beginning January 1, 1960, or as soon thereafter as possible, and
extending to and including June 30, 1960, at the lowest cash price per
unit, unit price to include State Tax, but exclusive of Federal Tax, in
accordance with all terms and specifications listed herein.
Each bidder must guarantee and state the octane rating contained in
the regular and ethyl gasoline he proposes to supply, the octane rating
of ethyl gasoline to be not less than 99, the price to be listed as the
prevailing tank wagon prices, plus or minus; motor oil to be detergent
heavy duty, premium (not to be a fleet oil) and first grade, and first
grade non=detergent (requirements approximately 300 gallons of each per
six month period); -Diesel, High detergent motor oil (requirements approxi-
mately 200 gallons per six month period); diesel fuel to be No. 2 (require
ments approximately 3,000 gallons per six month period); chassis lubricant
to be all-purpose (requirements approximately 100 pounds per six month
period; gear lube oil to be 140 and 90 weight (requirements approximately
600 pounds per six month period); kerosene (requirements approximately
3,000 gallons per six month period); anti -freeze to be permanent type
(requirements approximately 100 gallons per six month period).
The requirements for regular gasoline will be approximately 29,000
gallons per six month period and for ethyl gasoline approximately
27,000 gallons per six month period.
The successful bidder will be required to furnish and install four
(4) electrically operated and metered gasoline pumps, necessary tanks
and required concrete islands and will be required to furnish one (1)
electrically operated and metered diesel pump and underground tank.
In the event bids are awarded to more than one bidder the successful
bidder for ethyl gasoline will be required to furnish three (3) pumps,
tanks and islands; and the successful bidder for the regular gasoline
shall be required to furnish one (1) pump, tank and island, and the
successful bidder for the diesel fuel shall be required to furnish one
(1) pump and tank.

Bids shall provide a guarantee against advance in the bid price and
shall also guarantee a corresponding reduction in price in the event of a
decrease in the market priceof any of the items bid'on.
The bidder will so state in his bid that he agrees to five 24-hour
emergency tank truck service to any'point in the City of Paducah seven
days per week.
In the event of a temporary tank wagon price less than normal, the
City will be charged the normal tank wagon price less the discount or the
temporary tank wagon price without the discount whichever results in a
lower net price per gallon of gasoline.
SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by
posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the
request for bids in at least three issues of the Sun Democrat to be
published once a week for three consecutive weeks. All bids shall be
sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice
for the opening of same. All bids received by the City Manager up to
the time fixed.in the notice for the opening of same shall be filed with

the Board of Commissioners }who may let a contract to the lowest and
best bidder, and the Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right
to reject any and all bids and the City shall not become legally
obligated to purchase said products until the adoption of an ordinance
authorizing the execution of a purchase contract.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption.
