A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR
BIDS FOR FURNISHING THE CITY OF PADUCAH WITH FINISHED LAUNDRY FOR
THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY FOR THE PERIOD OF TIME FROM JANUARY
1, 1960 TO JUNE 30, 1960; PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH
SUCH SERVICES SHALL BE RENDERED
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY
OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby,
authorized to advertise for bids for furnishing the city of Paducah
with its requirement of finished laundry for the fire department
of the City for the period beginning January 1, 1960 and ending
June 30, 1960. The items of such finished laundry will be sheets,
pillow cases, bed spreads, roller towels, hand towels and cotton .
blankets. The laundry shall be picked up at each of the five (5)
fire stations of the City on Saturday of each week and delivered
to the respective stations not later than Thursday of the following
week. The successful bidder shall be responsible for the loss of
any item of laundry and shall be responsible for damage done thereto
exceeding normal wear and tear. Each bidder shall quote individual
prices for each of the herein named items of laundry. Any contract
for the furnishing of such laundry may be terminated by the City at
any time the service is not satisfactory to the Chief of the Fire
department.
SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed
bids by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting
notice of the request for bids in at.least three (3) issues of the
Sun Democrat to be published once a week for three (3) consecutive
weeks. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received
after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All
bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice
for the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners
who may let a contract to the lowrst and best bidder, and the Board
of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids
and the City shall not become legally obligated for such services until
the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a contract.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
