HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 14, Page 102, No Resolution Number102 / A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO (2) NEW 1959 PANEL TRUCKS FOR USE IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. .That -the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to advertise for bids for the sale to the City of two (2) new 1959 panel trucks for use in the police depart- ment, having the following specifications: Colors as specified by City; weight, one-half ton or larger; type panel body; horsepower, not less than 130; inside panel length, minimum of 71 feet; heavy duty springs; transmission (bid both ways) 1. Standard transmission with heavy duty clutch. 2. Auto- matic transmission, water cooled. Generator, (one) 105 empere, 12 volt installed (installation to be supervised by City) double pully and double belts required; seat springs, heavy duty; heater, deluxe model;. oil bath; air cleaner purilator; directional signals; spot light to be furnished by city but installed by bidder; wheels, (5) 15 -inch wheels equipped with (5) standard first line 6 -ply tires with tubes. Spare wheel, tire and tube to be mounted on truck. Twin seats in cab covered with plastic upholstary; two external rear view mirrors; two inside sun visors mounted over windshield; double doors at rear, opening outward; one heavy duty 12 -volt battery; front and rear bumpers installed. Each bidder is to state the amount he is willing to accept for the purchase price of said equipment; the amount he will allow as a credit on the purchase price as trade-in of two used panel trucks owned by the City and being used as what is known as "Paddy Wagons" one having 1959 State of Kentucky License No. T8337 and the other having license No. T8338. Each bidder shall state the length of time required for delivery after the contract is awarded. SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for bids by a notice posted at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in the Sun Democrat to be published once a week for three consecutive weeks. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received up to the time fixed in the notice for 103 the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest and best bidder, and said Board of Commissioners -shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the City shall not become legally obligated to purchase said equipment until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a purchase contract. SECTION 3.
