A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE
FOR BIDS FOR 1000 FEET OF 112 -INCH FIRE HOSE AND 1000 FEET OF 21 -
INCH FIRE HOSE FOR USE BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY, PRESCRIBING THE TERNS AND'CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SAID
PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF =,11ISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby,
authorized to advertise for bids for the purchase of 1000 feet of
12 -inch fire hose and 1000 feet of 22 -inch fire hose to be used by
the fire department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, and having
the following specifications:
lz inch double jacket cotton rubber lined fire hose in
50 foot lengths, to be mildew proof or equal. Couplings of the brass
forged rocker lug type. The female half of each coupling shall be
stamped with date of manufacture. Coupling to be new with National
Standard Threads and attached at factory.
At each end of hose not approaching within four (k) feet of
the coupling the manufacturer's name, month and year of manufacture
and the proof test pressure as "Tested to 500 lbs." shall have
indelibly stenciled thereon, in print of not less than one (1) inch
high, using ink of contrasting color.
The fire hose furnished under the terms of this proposal shall
have a potential service life of not less than ten (10) years, shall
be capable of withstanding, berring mistreatment or accidental damage,
and without deterioration such as would render the hose unfit for
service, normal active duty for a period of not less than ten (10)
years, during which the hose is in active service outside of storeroom.
The same specifications and conditions shall pertain to the
2z -inch hose with the exception of the coupling which shall have the
Paducah thread.
Each bidder shall submit a sample of the hose bid upon by him
and each bid shall be accompanied by complete detailed specifications.
SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for bids by
posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice for the
request for bids in at least one issue of the Sune'Democrat. The notice
shall be posted and published at least seven days prior tp the opening

of bids and no bid shall be opened within ten daysfrom the date on
which this resolution is adopted. No bid shall be received after the
hour fixed in the notice for the opening of bids. All bids received
up to the time fixed in the notice for the opening of bids shall be filed
with the Board of Commissioners who may let the contract to the lowest
responsible bidder or bidders. The Board of Commissioners shall reserve
the right to reject any and all bids and the City of Paducah shall not
be legally obligated to purchase said fire hose until the adoption
of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a contract.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
