TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE COIISTRUCTIOI? OF SAID SCHOOL BUILDING
WHEREAS, plans and specifications for the construction of a new
school building at Ninth and Caldwell Streets in the City of Paducah
known as the Southside Elementary School to be financed from proceeds
of a proposed issue of City of Paducah School Building Revenue Bonds
have been duly prepared and approved in accordance with KRS 162.160 and
1,1H REAS, the Board of Education of the City of Paducah, at a
meeting held on January 31, 1958, adopted a resolution offering to enter
into a lease of the school building when completed with the City as pro-
vided in ILRS 162,140 and requesting the City of Paducah to advertise for
bids for the construction of said new school building,
NOW THEREFORE, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah
does hereby ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners of the City shall
cause the duly approved plans and specifications for the construction
of the said new school building to be filed in the office of the City
Clerk of the City of Paducah as required by KRS 162.160.
SECTION 2. That said plans and specifications having been duly
approved, the Board of Education having offered to lease the new school
building to be constructed according to the form of a contract, lease
and option as provided in KRS 162,140, the City Clerk is hereby author-
ized and directed to publish the following advertisement for bids for
the construction of said new school building:
I1dVITATION FOR BIDS
The City of Paducah, Kentucky will receive bids for the con-
struction of the Southside Elementary School, Ninth and Caldwell
Streets, until 2:00 P.M. on Thursday the 27th day of February,
1958, at the office of the Board of Education, 1000 Clark Street,
at u1nich time the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.
The project consists of:
A one story elementary school building consisting of 10 classrooms,
offices, storage room, multi-purpose room, kitchen, toilets and
boiler room facilities.
Proposed forms, contract documents, plans and specifications are on
file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Paducah, Kentucky,
the office of the Paducah Board of Education and at the office of john.
ston & Seay, Engineer and Architect, 2434 Broadway, Paducah, Kentucky.
They will also be on file at the F. 11. Dodge Plan Rooms in the cities
of St. Louis, I-;issouri, Idem his and ilashville, Tennessee, Louisville,
Kentucky and the Associated General Contractors of PaducahKentucky
and the Associated Building Contractors of Evansville, Indiana.

Copies of the documents may be obtained by depositing -)50.00
with the Architect for each set of documents so obtained, .50.00
will be refunded to each person who returns the plans and specifica-
tions and other documents in good condition to the Architect within
one (1) meek after bid opening. Bidders returning unusable plans
or specifications, or returning plans and/or specifications after
the above mentioned one (1) week period, will be refunded only ,35.0
Plans will be available for t;he General Contractors including
Plumbing, Heating and Electrical. Material dealers and sub-
contractors who will bid with the General Contractors must obtain
information from sets available in the office of the Architect,
Prime Contractor, Plan Rooms and Paducah Board of Education.
A satisfactory bid bond executed by the bidder and acceptable
sureties in an amount equal to 5 per cent of the bid shall be
submitted with each proposal.
The successful bidder Trill be required to furnish and pay for
satisfactory performance and payment bond.
Attention is called to the fact that not less than minimum
salaries and mages as set forth in the specifications must be
paid on this project.
The City of Paducah, Kentucky, reserves the right to reject any
and all bids or to waive any irregularities in bidding.
_:o bids shall be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) days
subsequent to the opening of bids without the consent of the
City of Paducah, Kentucky.

SECTION 3. That the Board of Commissioners shall, at the
time or subsequent to the acceptance of the best construction bid,
provide for the advertisement and issuance of a sufficient amount of
school building revenue bonds to finance the cost of said construction.
SECTIOII 4. That all ordinances or motions in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTIM! 5. That this ordinance shall take effect upon its
adoption.
