HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 13, Page 769, No Resolution Number76�i A RESOLUTION REQUESTING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY I•IANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR FURNISHING THE CITY OF PADUCAH FENCING MATERIALS TO ENCLOSE THE SEWERAGE TREATMENT PLANT, AND ALSO FOR THE ERECTION OF SUCH FENCE, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIOI'IS TO BE COI PLIED I'TITH BY BIDDERS BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF CODU41 SSIONERS OF'THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, requested•and authorized to advertise for bids for furnishing the City of Paducah with certain fencing material for the construction of a fence surrounding the sewage treatment plant at 6th and Terrell Streets, and also for the erection of such fence and associated equipment; the specifications of which to be as follows: Approximately 2372 linear feet of seven (7) foot high chain link fence, two 12 -foot swing drive gates and one 16 -foot swing drive gate. HEIGHT OF FENCE - 7 feet - Fabric 6 feet, Barbed wire 1 foot. FABRIC - 2 inch mesh Chain Link No. 9 W & M gauge copper - Steel irire, galvanized after weaving by the hot dip process, with both selvages barbed. LINE POSTS - 22 inch O.D. copper -steel pipe, hot galvanized, weighing 3.65 pounds per foot, spaced not more than 10 feet apart, set 3 feet in concrete. TOP RAIL - 1 5/8 inch O.D. copper -steel pipe, hot galvanized, weighing 2.27 pounds per foot, joined with outside sleeve type couplings approximately every 20 feet. One coupling in every five to be an expansion type. Top rail to pass through base of extension arm and is to be securely fastened to end, gate and corner post by means of suitable galvanized malleable iron or galvanized pressed steel connections forming a continuous brace from end to end of each stretch of fence. END, CORNER, GATE AND PULL POSTS - 3 inch O.D. copper -steel pipe, hot galvanized, weighing 5.79 pounds per foot, set 3 feet in concrete. BRACES - End, Gate, Corner and Pull Posts - 1 5/8 inch O.D. copper -steel pipe, hot galvanized, weighing 2.27 pounds per foot, To be spaced midway between top rail and ground and to extend from terminal post to next line post. Braces to be securely fastened to posts by means of galvanized malleable iron or pressed steel connections, then trussed from line post back to end, gate, corner or pull pos; with 3/8" round hot galvanized truss rod, having an adjustable take up. DRIVEWAY GATES - Frames made of 2 inch O.D. copper -steel pipe, hot galvanized, weighing 2.72 pounds per foot with heavy malleable iron casting corner fittings. fabric same as in fence with three strands of barbed wire on top. Complete with heavy duty hinges, stops, center rest, latching device and arrangement for padlock. EXTENSION ARMS - Malleable iron base with pressed steel arm, hot dipped galvanized. Arms extend at an angle of approxi- mately 45 degrees. The base to fit snugly over top of line posts to exclude moisture. Each arm carried three barbed wires securely fastened. Extension arms are to project in. 770 BARBED BARE - Three strands made from copper -bearing steel, hot dipped galvanized, four point pattern, composed of two strands 122 gauge wire with large barbs spaced 3 inches apart. Barbed wire shall be furnished by fence manufacturer. FABRIC BAbIDS - Fasten fabric to top rail with aluminum tie mires, using one tie approximately 25 inches apart and to line posts approximately 14 inches apart. CONCRETE - Concrete for the .footings of all posts shall be of ".6 bag cement per cubic yard mix, sand fine aggregate, crushed limestone coarse aggregate, of a fairly stiff mix, tamped in place around posts. Concrete for footings of all posts shall extend 6 inches below end of the posts. Diameter of hole for concrete for line posts shall be a miniraua of 8 inches. Diameter for hole for concrete for corner and gate posts shall be a minimum of 12 inches. Croom all post foot- ings 12 inches above grade at post for water drainage. Concrete shall be covered with damp sand, dirt or burlap and allowed to harden for 4 days before starting on erecting fence. Each bidder shall state his lowest price for furnishing the fencing, gates and associated equipment FOB 6th S: Terrell Streets in Paducah, Kentucky, and also his lowest price to erect the fence complete, furnishing all tools, labor and concrete from plans and specifications available at the office of the City i•;anager at the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky. Each bidder shall also state the make of fence and associated equipment and the time in which delivery of same can be made after the awarding of a contract, and also shall state the time required to completely erect the fence after awarded a contract for same. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids; the right to award a contract on the most favorable basis and to waive any formalities in the bidding. SECTION 2. The City i•ianager shall advertise for sealed bids by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in at least one (1) issue of the Sun Democrat. The notice shall be posted and published at least seven (7) days prior to the opening of bids and no bid shall be opened within ten (10) days from the date on which this resolution is adopted. No bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of bids and no bid shall be received unless submitted under seal. All bids received by the City Nanager up to the time fixed in the notice for the opening of bids shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let the bid to the lowest responsible bidder or bidders. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
