A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS
FOR THE PURCHASE OF TILE CITY'S REQUIREMENT OF LIMESTONE FOR THE YEAR
1957 (APPROXIPIATELY 5000 TO 8000 TONS) TO BE USED IN STREET CONSTRUCTION
WORK
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COP-11ISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY;
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authori
to advertise for bids for the city's requirement of limestone for the
year 1957 (approximately 5000 to 8000 tons). Bid price to be F.O.B.
to any destination in the city limits of the City of Paducah, Kentucky
as specified by the Director of Public Works. The limestone is to be
delivered as ordered, by collect telephone call to the successful
bidder or bidders, in 100 ton lots or more and the successful bidder
is to guarantee to start delivery within twenty-four hours after
notification and continue until the required amount has been delivered.
The limestone must meet the specifications known and listed as
Kentucky State Highway Specifications for Pio. 9 and No. 11 limestone.
The successful bidder may be required to furnish representative samples
of any and all items and all weights of delivered material must be
certified from some accurate scales in or near the City of Paducah
at the expense of the successful bidder.
All bids shall provide a guarantee against advance in market
price and shall guarantee a reduction in price in the event of a decrease
in market price. The successful bidder shall post a performance bond in
the sum of ;)1,500.00 guaranteeing specifications and delivery. The
City reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for bids by posting
a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for
bids in at least one issue of the Sun Democrat. Notice shall be posted
and published at least seven (7) days prior to the opening of bids and
no bid shall be opened within ten (10) days from the date on which
this Resolution is adopted. No bid shall be received after the hour
fixed in the notice for the opening of bids. All bids received by
the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice shall be filed
with the Board of Commissioners who may let the bid to the lowest
responsible bidder or bidders.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
