AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF DR. I'IALTER JOHNSON AND DR. JOE
B. SPAULDING FOR THE PURCHASE OF PROPERTY AT THE SOUTH EAST CORNER OF
27TH STREET AND BROADWAY IN PADUCAH, KENTUCKY FROM THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SALE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the bid of Dr. Walter Johnson and Dr. Joe B.
Spaulding in the sum of •;15,000.00 for the purchase of the property
at the south east corner of 27th Street and Broadway in Paducah,
Kentucky owned by the City, be accepted, said property being de-
scribed as follows:
That certain parcel of land known as Lot Number 9 in
Block 1 8 of the West End Improvement Companyts Addition to
the City of Paducah, Kentucky, is bounded and described
as follows: Commencing at the southeast corner of the
intersection of Broadway and 27th Street; thence with the
southerly line of Broadway in an easterly direction a dis-
tance of 50 feet; thence at right angles in a southerly
direction a distance of 160.75 feet to the northerly line
of an alley; thence at right angles with the northerly
line of said alley a distance of 50 feet to the easterly
line of 27th Street; thence at right angles with the
easterly line of 27th Street in a northerly direction a
distance of 160.75 feet to the point of beginning.
That certain parcel of land known as Lot Number 10 in
Block 18 of the :gest End Improvement Company's Addition to
the City of Paducah, Kentucky, is bounded and described
as follows: Commencing at a point in the southerly line of
Broadway, said point being 50 feet east of the southeast
corner of the intersection of Broadway and 27th Street;
thence with the southerly line of Broadway in an easterly
direction a distance of 50 feet; thence at right angles •
in a southerly direction a distance of 160.75 feet to the
northerly line of an alley; thence at right angles with the
northerly line of said alley in a westerly direction a
distance of 50 feet; thenceat right angles in a northerly
direction a distance of 160.75 feet to the point of beginning.
That certain parcel of land known as Lot No. 11 in Block
18 of the West End Improvement Company's Addition to the City
of Paducah, Kentucky, is bounded and described as follows:
Commencing at a point in the southerly line of Broadway, said
point being 100 feet east of the southeast corner of the inter-
section of Broadway and 27th Street; thence with the southerly
line of Broadway in an easterly direction a distance of 50 feet;
thence at right angles in a southerly direction a distance of
160.75 feet to the northerly line of an alley; thence at right
angles with the northerly line of said alley in a westerly
direction a distance of 50 feet; thence at right angles
in a northerly direction a distance of 160.75 feet to the
point of beginning.
And being the same land conveyed to the City of Paducah,
Kentucky by Sam King, Master Commissioner, be deed dated
October 15, 1948 and of record in Deed Book 312, page 63
in the McCracken County Court Clerk's Office.

SECTION 2. The purchase price for the property shall be
payable 5'500.00 in cash, which has heretofore been paid to the
City Treasurer, and the balance of -214,500.00 to be paid in cash
within thirty (30) days after the passage of this ordinance. In
the event the said purchasers shall fail to pay the balance of the
purchase price within thirty (30) days after the passage of this
ordinance, the aforesaid sum of %0'500.00 shall belong to and be
retained by the City. In the event the title to said property
shall not be merchantable and the City shall not perfect or be
able to perfect the same within a reasonable time, the aforesaid
purchasers shall have the right and option of demanding and receiving
the aforesaid deposit of :"'500.00. The purchasers are to pay all
taxes assessed against the property beginning with those due and
payable in the year 1957.
SECTION 3. Upon p payment of the aforesaid sum of (15,000.00 j
to the City, the Mayor and Citv Clerk are, by this ordinance,
authorized to execute a deed conveying said property to said pur-
chasers with no warranty as to title, and subject to any encroachments, j
easements or other condition which may be shown by an accurate survey
of same.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption, j
