A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR
BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE MOTOR DRIVEN COIN COUNTER; TWO TYPEWRITER
BOOKKEEPING MACHINES AND ONE ELECTRIC OPERATED TYPEWRITER KEYBOARD
GRAPHOTYPE MACHINE FOR USE IN THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SAID
PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby,
requested and authorized to advertise for bids for the sale to the
City of Paducah, Kentucky of certain equipment to be used by the
Finance Department of said City as follows:
1. One new motor driven coin sorter and counter that will
sort and count all coins from pennies to half dollars, inclusive,
into separate drawers; the count to be recorded by denomination on
individual counting dials in terms of dollars and cents; and to
be equipped with an inspection pan and bagging attachment.
2. Two new typewriter bookkeeping machines having at least ten
(10) totals and to be able to add and subtract in all totals; to have
credit balances in at least nine (9) totals; carriage to be of such
width to accommodate journals 26" wide; and the carriage must be gear
driven, front feed type and so constructed as to permit visibility
of posting; the typewriter must be electric and standard in nature.
The accounting machine keyboard must be the full keyboard type.
The machine must be capable of multiplying the tax rate by the
assessment in preparing tax bills; must be capable of doing payrolls,
accounts payable, appropriation ledger and other accounting jobs
with forms now being used by the City; must have selective and
automatic carriage return and have the ability to correct errors;
must print in red when subtraction is made; and all balancing and
totaling must be automatic.
3. One new electric operated typewriter keyboard graphotype
machine with 7Y35 style of type spaced 9 characters per inch; light
fixture, copy holder, back spacer, plat tray, safety guard, tool
drawer, cover and motor. Must be able to emboss Style GG alloy
addressograph plates with bold gothic type to imprint multiple
copy carbon tax bills legibly; must permit embossing four lines
of type on top section of GG plates; and must permit embossing
five lines of type on bottom section of GG plates.

Each bidder is to state the amount he is willing to accept
in cash for the purchase price of any of the above items bid upon by
him; shall state the length of time required for delivery after
contract is awarded; and all bid prices submitted to be guaranteed
against advance in price for a period of sixty (60) days after the
date of the opening of bids.
SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for bids by
notice posted at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the
request for bids in at least one (1) issue of the Sun Democrat. The
notice shall be posted and published at least seven (7) days prior
to the opening of bids and no bid shall be opened within ten (10)
days fromdays from the date on which this Resolution is adopted. All
bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed
in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received by the
City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice for the opening of
bids shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let the
contract to the lowest and best bidder, and the Board of Commissioners
shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the City shall
not become legally obligated to purchase said equipment until the
adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a purchase
contract.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
