HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 13, Page 607, No Resolution Number6o7�� A RESOLUTION REQUESTING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR ALTERATIONS TO THE HEATING PLANT FOR THE CITY HALL; PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR SUCH WORK BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized and requested to advertise for bids for alterations to the heating plant for the City Hall in Paducah, Kentucky, including the removal of the present stoker, the installation of a gas service line, the furnishing and' installation of a combination gas-oil burner, the building of a combustion chamber in the boiler, the furnishing and installation of oil storage tanks with all wiring and electrical work complete and ready for operation; and all to be done according to specifications on file in the office of the City Manager. Each bidder shall state the amount of time required for performing such alterations; and the successful bidder shall execute a performance bond in the amount of his bid to insure the proper performance and completion of said work, and in addition thereto will be required to provide and keep in full force and effect liability insurance pro- tecting the City of Paducah from any claim to persons or property of persons in the following amounts: 910,000 for personal injury or death to any person. 20,000 for personal injury or death to more than one person resulting from the same accident a 5,000 for damage to property in any one accident. SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for the aforesaid bids by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in at least one (1) issue of the Sun Democrat, the notice shall be posted and published at least seven (7) days prior to the opening of bids and no bid shall be opened within ten (10) days from the date of the adoption of this Resolution. No bid shall be received unless under seal, nor shall any bid be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of bids. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let the con- tract to the lowest and best responsible bidder. The Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the City shall not become legally obligated for such work until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a contract to do such work. 608 SECTION 3_ This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
