HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 13, Page 583, No Resolution Number503 k ---- A / A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZI1dG THE CITY •TANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR RESURFACING TEN (10) BLOCKS, OR A LESSER NIP4BER, OF STREETS IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, INCLUDING THE RAISING AW RE -SETTING OF MAiIHOLES, CATCH BASINS AND MONUMENTS BE I^1 RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMP11 SSIGNERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to advertise for bids for the resurfacing of the following blocks of the following streets in the City of Paducah, Iaentucky: Broadway from 11th Street to 17th Street i?orth 3rd Street from Jefferson Street to :=onroe Street .orth 2nd Street from Jefferson Street to I-onroe Street Broad Street from South 4th Street to Elizabeth Street North 11th Street from Broadway to Jefferson Street Said surfacing to be from gotter to gotter with full widths to street.property lines at all intersections between said points and said work to be done under the following terms, conditions and stipulations: The surfacing of the present pavement shall be leveled where necessary and surfaced with 12 inch application of Kentucky State Highway Class 44I91, Type Y1B" Bituminous concrete surfacing, Class 17I" Bituminous leveling course, said work to include Bituminous prime coat and the raising and re -setting to grade of manholes, catch basins and monuments located in the areas.to be resurfaced. Persons desiring to submit bids will do so on the basis of the entire number of blocks set out above and shall submit alternate bids per block, which will enable the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah to let a contract for the resurfacing of any number of said desi_Snated blocks less than the entire amount. Each bidder shall state in his bid the amount to be allowed to the City as a credit against the bid price for causing the manholes, catch basins and monuments to be raised and re -set to grade at no expense to the bidder. Each bidder shall state the tifue necessary to complete the work from the date of letting the contract therefor. All work shall be performed Linder the direction of the City of Paducah Engineering Department. Said work shall be paid for upon certi- fication of completion thereof and when approved and accepted by the City Engineer. 584 The successful bidder shall execute a performance bond in the aitiount of the estimated cost of the work as shoim on his bid to insure the proper performance and completion of said work, and in addition will be required to keep in full force and effect liability insurance protect -in.- the City of Paducah from any claims to persons or property of persons in the following amounts: ~:10,000 for personal injury or death to any one person -20,000 for personal injury or death to more than one person resulting from the same accident v 5,000 for damage to property in any one accident SECTi0Pi 2. The City I:•anager shall advertise for the aforesaid bids -by posting a notice at the city hall door and by insertin notice of the request for bids in at least one (1) issue of the Sun Democrat. The notice shall be posted and published at least seven (7) days prior to the opening of bids and no bid shall be.opened within ten (10) days of the date of the adoption of this resolution. Ho bid shall be received unless it is under seal nor shall any bid be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of bids. All bids received by the City i•anager up to the time fixed in the notice shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let the contract to the lowest and best responsible bidder. The Board of Commissioners shallreservethe right to reject any and all bids and the City shall not become legally obligated under a contract for the aforesaid work until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a contract.
