A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF MIDWEST VIDEO CORPORATION
IN THE SUN OF 'p1,000.00 FOR THE SALE OF A TELEVISION SIGNAL FRANCHISE
AND TENTATIVELY GRANTING SUCH FRANCHISE TO MIDWEST VIDEO CORPORATION
WHEREAS, on April 17, 1956 the Board of Commissioners of the
City of Paducah adopted an ordinance creating a franchise or privilege
to construct, operate and maintain television signal lines and
appurtenances upon, along, across, over and under the streets, alleys
and public pays of the City, providing the terms and conditions there-
for and providing for the sale of said franchise or privilege, and
WHEREAS, the City Manager has filed with this Board his report
showing the sale was advertised in the Sun Democrat on May 10, 1956
and on May 17, 1956, and that Midwest Video Corporation of Little
Rock, Arkansas alas the only qualified bidder at the sale, and bid the
sum of $1,000.00 for such franchise, which sum has been deposited with
the City laliager as evidenced by chech of Midwest Video Corporation
dated May 15, 1956, numbered $75 in the sum of $1,000.00 and
WREREAS, under Section 8 of the aforesaid ordinance the successful
bidder, irithin thirty (30) days from the confirmation of the sale, is
required to give a sufficient bond acceptable to the City in a sum
equal to one-fourth of the fair estimated cost of the plant to be
erected, and
WHEREAS, under Section 5 of the aforesaid ordinance.the successful
bidder is required to furnished the City with certain comprehensive
general liability insurance.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF CODII13 SIONERS OF
THE CITY OF PADUCAH, IENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That subject to the hereinafter set out conditions,
the sale of a television signal franchise made by the City Manager on
May 22, 1956 is hereby confirmed, and such franchise as set out in the
ordinance authorizing the same passed by the Board of Commissioners
April 17, 1956, is hereby granted to said Midwest Video Corporation.
SECTION 2_ The confirmation of the sale referred to in Section
1 hereof and the granting of the franchise herein shall not be filial
and effective unless, within thirty (30) days from this date, Midwest
Video Corporation executes a sufficient bond acceptable -to the City
in a sum equal to one-fourth of the fair estimated cost of the plant
to be erected, which bond shall be conditioned to be enforceable
in the event said Midwest Video Corporation fails within a reasonable
time to establish a suitable plant for rendering the service and begin
rendering the serviess in the manner set forth in -the terms of the sale

nor shall the confirmation of the sale and the granting of the franchise
be final and effective until Midwest Video Corporation furnished the
City with comprehensive general liability insurance as required and
provided by Section 5 of the Television Signal Franchise Ordinance
passed by -the Board of Commissioners April 17, 1956.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
