A RESOLUTION THANKING THE VARIOUS ORGANIZATIONS, COMMITTEES AND
PERSONS FOR SERVICES RENDERED IN CONNECTION WITH SECURING A NEW MAGNAVOX
WHEREAS, heretofore the Magnavox Company announces its plans for
constructing a new factory in Paducah which would provide employment for
a large number of people, thereby benefitting the entire City; and
various problems and obstacles appeared to be hindering the
consumation of the company's plans; and
WHEREAS, it appeared that if the new factory was not constructed it
was possible that the operations of the present Magnavox factory would be
removed from the City of Paducah; and
WHEREAS, various organizations, committees and persons contributed
valuable time,effort and assistance in solving such problems and removing
such obstacles, making it possible for the Magnavox factory to be built in
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE
CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
That the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah
does, by this Resolution, gratefully acknowledge the assistance of the
Association of Commerce through its Industrial Committee, of which Mr.
A. J. McDivitt is chairman; the Magnavox Company through its Plant
Manager, Mr. W. C. Seward; the International Union of Electrical, Radio
and Machine Workers, of which Mrs. Helen Childers is president, the Mayors
Labor -Management Committee, its Chairman, Dear R. G. Matheson and especially
the panel consisting of Rev. Charles Bunce, Mr. W. D. Roberts and Mr. David
Fine, and numerous other persons devoting time, effort and assistance in
doing all things necessary to assure the construction of the new Magnavox
factory in Paducah and do hereby sincerely thank each and everyone of them
and after its adoption and the City Clerk is hereby directed to spread
same upon the official records of the City.
