CLAYSE, AND REP EALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH",
UHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF 'CO1.11ISSIONERS OPI JANUARY 7, 1947
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF CCTR-:ISSIOi1!ERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Section 9 of an ordinance containing the title
quoted above, which was adopted by the Board of Commissioners on
January 7, 1947, be, and the same is hereby amended and reordained
so that said section as amended and reordained shall read as
follows:
"SECTION 9. Rules Governing Conduct.
in addition to the causes for dismissal, suspension and
demotion provided by law, any member of the police department
may be reprimanded, dismissed, suspended or reduced in grade or .pay
for any of the following causes:
(1) Drinking beer, wine, whiskey or any other alcoholic or
intotieating liquor while -on duty or while wearing any
part of his uniform.
(2) Being intoyicated either on or off duty.
(3) Insubordination or disrespect to the City manager, the !'Mayor,
any member of the Board of Commissioners, or to any superior
officer or employee, or refusal or failure to obey or execute
any command or order given by a superior officer.
(4) Loitering while on duty or while wearing any part of his
uniform.
(5) Conviction in any court of a felony.
(6) Attempting in any tray to influence any person's vote in any
election or.interfering with or obstructing the holding
of any election or registration of voters.
(7) Allowing as many as three (3) Orders of Attachment or
Garnishees against his salary or wages for just debts.
(8) Cowardice, inefficiency or neglect in the performance
of duty or disobedience of lawful orders of a superior officer.
(9) Such mental, physical or educational incapacity or dis-
ability as renders him incapable of properly performing
his duty.
(10) Abandonment of, without just cause, or failure to support
his family.
(11) Any immoral habits, lascivious or improper conduct not
herein enumerated which would render him an unfit or
improper person for employment in the Police Department,
or which would in any way tend to bring discredit or
criticism to the police department, the city government
or any of its employees.

(12) The acceptance of any gift or contribution of any hind
from any person or persons which may be calculated to

(13) The communication of information concerning the plans,
activities or secrets of the police department, or the
divulging, giving out or disclosing of the name of any
informer concerning law violators to any person not a
member of said department. Provided, however, that this

cooperation with other departments of the city government
through their duly constituted heads or with the law
enforcement officers of any political subdivision of the
Commonwealth or of the United States.
(14) Entering any disorderly house or place except in the discharge
of duty.
(15) Using indecent, profane or obscene language while on duty
or while wearing any part of his uniform.
(16) Using unnecessary force or brutality in making arrests or
handling prisoners.
(17) Being tardy or absent from any roll call or loitering
unnecessarily at Police headquarters.
(18) Irapoliteness or rudeness in dealing with the public or in
the performance of duty.
(19) Slovenliness or untidiness in his person or uniform or
failure to wear the prescribed uniform while on duty.
(20) Leaving his regular beat unless in the performance of duty,
or upon order of a superior officer.
(21) Being absent from duty without proper permission.
Police officers shall have permits from the Chief of
Police or their superior officer temporarily on duty
for any absence from their regular post or assignment,
and no officer shall be off duty without rermission
Properly granted to him, and any officer who shall absent
himself from duty without such permission shall forfeit
his pay during the.period of such absence and be dismissed
from service.
(22) Engaging in disputes or quarrels with another employee
or officer or officers while either or any of them are
on or off duty, or using any indecent, obs=cene or profane
names or language in addressing any officer or other person."
SECTION 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed.
SECTIOPi 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
