A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ADVERTISE FOR FOR THE PURCHASE BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH OF ONE
(l) -FLUSHER TANK AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT, AND PRESCRIBING THE
TERMS AND CONDITIONS TO BE COMPLIED WITH BY BIDDERS
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE•CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized
and requested to advertise for bids for the sale to the City of Paducah,
Kentucky of One (1) flusher tank with associated equipment, and all
with the following specifications:
Tank to be 3/1611 Grade "A" tank steel, not less than 1500 gallon
capacity, electrically welded _inside and outside. Elliptical heads
dished outmard. Splash plates. 2011 manhole with splash proof
hinged cover. Bustless perforated strainer in tank under swival
filling. Gooseneck with 4" brass clean-out plug on bottom of
strainer. Overflow pipe within tank with discharge directed to
clear all parts of the truck. Tank interior to be coated with
rust -resistant paint.
Tank to be mounted on longitudinal steel sills and electrically
welded to sills. Truck frame to be reinforced by fish -plating.
Sills to be clipped to truck. Pump and engine to be installed
between front of tank and back of truck cab. Capacity.of
to be 650 or 700 gallons per minute. Fuel pump to be instkffgd
on flusher engine so fuel can be pumped from truck fuel tank.
Standard clearance and othet traffic control lights for truck
of this size.
Four nozzles, two in front and two amidship hydraulic operated
from cab (adjustment) patented hand operated. All joints bronze
ground and elbows that require no tools for adjusting.
Gauges - float gauge on top of tank to indicate tank is full.
Pressure gauge on dash to indicate pressure of water being dis-
charged and red light in cab to indicate when tank is empty.
Metal fenders to be over rear wheels.
Wrought steel pipe. All fittings malleable. Pipe system fitted
with necessary flexible leakproof pipe. Couplings with necessary
drain cocks to drain this system. Fittings and hose for filling
tank ty o be standard size to fit fire hydrants.
Heavy duty cab and chassis with manufacturers G.V.W. rating
of 24,000 lbs. approximately 16011 wheel base. To be equipped
with air over hydraulic brakes, heavy duty clutch, heavy duty front
springs, auxiliary rear springs with build-up kits, heater, de-
froster dual rear wheels - 6, 5HD wide base wheels all around
with 1060 x 20 - 12 ply first line tires and 1 spare to be
mounted. Two speed rear axle, 4 speed transmission heavy duty
cooling system. Engine to have minimum net HP rating of 140 HP
at 2750 RPM.
Windshield to be equipped with 2 wipers and cab to be equipped
with 2 large side view mirrors mounted one on each side of cab.
Painting and lettering will be specified. One year guarantee
on all defects Tn material and workmanship.
Each bidder is to state the amount he will accept in cash for the
purchase price of the flusher tank and associated equipment he offers for
sale, and also the amount of the purchase Jwice for same by accepting as
trade-in One (1) flusher tank and pups mounted on a 1941 International
K8-COE, and also the amount he will accept in payment of rental option
both with and without said trade-in.

SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for bids by a notice
posted up at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the
request for bids in at least one (1) issue of the Sun -Democrat. The
notice shall be posted and published at least seven (7) days prior to
the opening of bids and no bid shall be opened within ten (10) days
from the date on which this resolution is adopted. No bid shall
be received unless under seal, nor shall any bid be received after
the hour -fixed in the notice for the opening of bids. All bids
received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice
shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let the
contract to the lowest and best responsible bidder. The Board of
Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids
and the City shall not beanie legally obligated to purchase said
flusher tank, pumps, cab, and chassis until the adoption of an
ordinance authorizing the execution of a contract.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption..
