HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 13, Page 364, No Resolution Number36✓ A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF FOUR NEW FIVE -PASSENGER, FOUR -DOOR AUTOMOBILES FOR USE IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, AND PRESCRIBING TIIE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SAID PURCHASES SHALL BE MADE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF CO1,11IISSIONER.S OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to advertise for bids for the sale to the City of Paducah of four (4) new five -passenger, four -door automobiles, black color, having a minimum horsepower rating of 100, to be used in the Police Department of the City of Paducah. Said automobiles to be equipped with heavy duty springs, clutch, 60 AI4P generator, or larger, heavy duty seat springs, deluxe heater, oil bath, air cleaner purilator, directional signals, spot light, tubeless tires and seat covers. Each bidder is to state the amount he will accept for the purchase price of the automobiles he offers for sale less the amount he will allow on the purchase price as a trade-in value on four (4) cars as follows: One 1953 Ford Sedan, known as Car No. 5; one 1954 Plymouth sedan, known as Car No. 4; one 1953 Plymouth knowm as Car P:o. 3; and one 1953 Chevrolet, known as Car No. 7. Each bidder is to state the length of time required for delivery after a contract is awarded. SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for bids by a notice posted up at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in at least one issue of the Sun -Democrat. The notice shall be posted and published at least seven (7) days prior to the opening of bids and no bid shall be opened within ten (10) days from the date on which this Resolution is adopted. No bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of bids. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let the contract to the lowest responsible bidder. The Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the city shall not become legally obligated to purchase acid automobiles until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a contract. SECTION 3.
