A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY I.IAIIAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR
BIDS F04 RESURFACING TWENTY-THREE (23) BLOCKS, OR A LESSER NUMBER
OF BLOCIrS, OF TWO STREETS IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY,
INCLUDING THE RAISING AND RESETTING OF MANHOLES, CATCH BASINS
AND MONUMENTS
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY
OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby,
authorized and directed to advertise for bids for the resurfacing .
of the following streets in the City of Paducah, Kentucky:
BROADWAY FROM THE west line of 1st Street
to the east line of 17th Street . . . . . . . . . 16 blocks
SOUTH 10TH STREET or Murrell Boulevard,
from the south line of Broadway to the
north line of Tennessee Street . . . . . . . . 7 blocks
Said surfacing to be fron gutter to gutter with full widths
to street property lines at all intersections between said points
and said work to be done under the following terms, conditions and
specifications:
The surfacing of the present pavement shall be leveled where
necessary and surfaced with 12" application of Kentucky State Highway
Class "I", Type "B" bituminous concrete surfacing, Class "I"
bituminous leveling course, said work to include bituminous prime
coat and the raising and resetting to grade of manholes, catch
basins and monuments located in the areas to be resurfaced.
Persons desiring to submit bids will do so on the basis of the
entire number of blocks set out above and shall submit alternate
bids per block, which will enable -the Board of Commissioners of the
City of Paducah to let a contract for the resurfacing of any number
of said designated blocks less than the whole amount. Each bidder
shall state in his bid the amount to be allowed to the City as a
credit against the bid price for causing the manholes, catch basins
or monuments to be raised and reset to grade at no expense to the
bidder. Each bid shall state the time necessary to complete the
work from the date of letting the contract therefor. All work will
be performed under the direction of the City of Paducah Engineering
Department. Said work shall be paid for upon certificate of com-
pletion thereof and when approved and accepted by the City Engineer.
The successful bidder will also execute a performance bond in
the amount of estimated cost of the work as shown on bid to insure
the proper performance and completion of said work and in addition
will be required to keep in full force and effect liability insurance
to protect the City of Paducah .from any claims to persons or property
of persons in the following amounts:

10,000 for personal injury or death to any one person
920,000 for personal injury or death to more than one
person resulting from the same accident, and
5,000 for damage to property in any one accident.
SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for the aforesaid
bids by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice
of the request for bids in at least one issue of the Sun -Democrat.
The notice shall be posted and published at least seven days prior
to the opening of bids and no bid shall be opened within ten days
from the date of the adoption of this resolution. No bid shall be
received unless it is under seal, nor shall any bid be received
after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of bids. All bids
received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice shall
be filed with'tYie'Board'of Commissioners who may let the contract to
the lowest and best responsible bidder. The Board of Commissioners
shall reserve'the'right to reject any and all bids and the city shall
not become legally obligated under a contract for the aforesaid work -
until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of the
contract.'
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
